About the Position
TeraRecon is looking for an experienced, reliable, and organized accounting professional to become a valuable contributor to our Finance team. The Revenue Accountant is managing the Company's revenue recognition and deferred revenue balances in accordance with agreed policy and US GAAP.
In addition, the Revenue Accountant will review all sales quotations prepared by the Sales and Renewals team before they are sent to customers and prospects. The Revenue Accountant will have direct contact with the Chief Financial Officer as well as other members of the Company's management team, which requires strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
The position is a based in our Durham, NC headquarters.
Manage monthly billing and recording of revenue contracts, ensure proper deferral of revenue in compliance with standards and company policies, and reconcile associated balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Partner with the Renewals team to ensure that contracts are invoiced on time and in accordance with contract terms.
Oversee the "deal desk" ensuring that quotations are reviewed before sending to customers and prospects
Prepare monthly analysis of contract revenue for review in connection with the monthly financial close. Provide explanations of key variances and incorporate into reporting/presentation senior leadership.
Work closely with Sales and Renewals teams to ensure all contractual issues are identified and addressed appropriately in advance of order execution.
Perform monthly revenue close activities including account reconciliations, analysis and generation of journal entries to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting
Assist with reviewing complex multiple-element revenue arrangements to ensure accurate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with company policies and ASC 606
Maintain and update documentation for revenue policies and procedures
Aid in the development, testing and documentation of internal controls over the order-to-cash process
Preparation of revenue-related schedules for external auditors
Respond to inquiries from the Chief Financial Officer, regarding financial results, special reporting requests and other financial analysis.
Assist in system implementation and process improvement projects to build a first-class revenue accounting & operations function
Perform special projects and initiatives, as may be necessary.
At least 5 years of revenue experience
Experience with revenue recognition in a for a multi-national/currency environment
with multi element sales arrangements
Hands on experience with Microsoft AIX or other large automated ERP/accounting system required.
Power user of Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel.
Firsthand experience working in an environment with complex revenue recognition procedures
Thorough understanding of ASC 606 and main facets of US GAAP
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting with great attention to detail
Ideally hi-tech industry experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance
CPA or working towards a CPA qualification, preferred
Salary: Depending on qualifications and experience.
