NATURE AND SCOPE: Operate, adjust, and supervise all packaging lines and assist with minor maintenance repairs on equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Start-up lines in a timely manner.
Knowledge and awareness that correct codes are on the poly and cases.
Produce quality seals and wrap condition using correct supplies.
Review poly products to assure correct weights are met.
Make running adjustments to packaging machines.
Assist Maintenance with line repairs as necessary.
Setup poly film to support line changes as needed.
Give direction to keep the line running efficiently.
Communicate between line crews, maintenance, supervisors, dumpers, drivers, and other key people on all issues.
Check metal detector for working order.
Lead, direct, train crew on line in job tasks, as well as safety.
Conduct bi-monthly Safety meetings with your crew.
Receive and record bulk product in tote bins, for the Mix and Blend lines, delivered from Lineage.
Fill out correctly and turn in all assigned paperwork.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work overtime/weekend. Must rotate shifts and work any shift assigned.
Must learn to run all packaging lines with minimal supervision.
Must have some supervisory skills, leadership abilities to instruct crews on lines in correct methods of job tasks; direct crews for breaks and lunches; advise crews on policies, rules, procedures, etc.; report personnel problems to the Floor Supervisor and/or Shift Supervisor.
Must have a working knowledge of product coding systems.
Able to read, write legibly, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.
Knowledge of packaging jobs to be able to instruct and assist crews on proper procedures.
Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
Follow and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines, company policies and procedures.
Communicate and interact well with others.
Basic math skills.
Maintain a good attendance record.
Keep work area clean and orderly at all times.
Furnish own personal hand tools, and keep clean and in good repair.
Possess current forklift certification.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance
Reach above shoulder height.
Manual and finger dexterity.
Requires bending, twisting, balancing, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, pushing/pulling, walking, kneeling and sitting for length of shift.
Work with mechanical equipment.
Work inside a loud, cool environment.
