The Emergency Department Nurse Manager Off-Shift Operations (NM) is the administrator-on-site during his/her shift. He/she supervises and coordinates the activities of the Emergency Department personnel. As necessary, the NM interprets department policies and procedures, investigates and addresses concerns from patients, visitors, nursing personnel. The NM independently resolves complaints/concerns/issues to the extent he/she is able due to the resources available. Reports are generated as required to ensure appropriate communication to appropriate persons.
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to quickly respond to emergency situations. Sufficient mobility to negotiate physical plant. Physical ability to transport patients with and without mechanical devices.
Physical ability to carry, push or lift patient care equipment as needed. Visual and auditory capability to read information and respond to auditory input. Ability to demonstrate independent, sound judgment. Ability to quickly respond to critical situations with accuracy in decision-making critical. Cognitive ability to observe, interpret and analyze verbal and written data. Ability to effectively communicate. Role models positive interpersonal relationships. Prioritizes competing responsibilities successfully. Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids. Protective equipment required as per standards. Fast paced, high pressure, constantly changing environment. Flexibility in work schedule to meet time requirements.
Education/Training: Bachelor of Science (BSN) required; MSN preferred
Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts required.
Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS required. CEN preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of ED experience required. Previous management experience desired. EPIC knowledge desired.
