      Job Description

      Overview This position is responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance within the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Business Unit. Key responsibilities include maintaining a closed loop customer complaint process, deployment of APQP quality methods, active participation in the PAC (new product development) process, assistance in the deployment and implementation of corporate wide quality initiatives, and quick resolution of quality issues. This position will work closely with Corporate Engineering, Product Management and Plant QA personnel, to support development and implementation of standards for design and manufacturing. This position is accountable for providing leadership to ensure that all QA systems, procedures and training activities are consistent with company goals, objectives and policies, to facilitate continuous improvement of our manufacturing and service processes. Responsibilities People Leader for all aspects of Quality within the C&I Business Unit, including management of direct reports in New York and within the factories Member of the C&I senior leadership team Work closely with the Quality organizations of other Business Units and Corporate Supplier Quality Ensure Business Unit Quality continuity with Leviton Global Quality Develop and grow the quality capabilities of the Business Unit through the development and deployment of shared standards, processes and best practices Lead new product development through the training and implementation of the APQP and Reliability processes into the design and manufacturing teams that support the Business Unit Voice of the Customer; drives the complaint process, ensuring timely feedback to create closed loop actions, addressing quality gaps specifically (product) and systemically (process); work in conjunction with engineering, product management and the labs to ensure root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented to prevent future recurrences Motivate all employees through encouragement, development, training, and open communications Lead the deployment of new quality standards and processes within the Business Unit Work with Leviton Legal as needed within the customer quality concerns process and thru product warranty claims Act as a change agent to promote one of our primary corporate objectives; quality in everything we do Processes Ensure the APQP and Reliability deliverables are met for existing and New Product or Process Introductions Support new product development DFM assessments by reviewing outputs and acting as a conduit between engineering and manufacturing / operations Identifies where current process limitations exist and prioritize and action opportunities to improve Ensure new product development uses appropriate Six Sigma tools, Lean Manufacturing concepts, statistical methodologies, and project management skills Assist in the development of design robustness and process capability windows for new processes/designs; identify existing areas where process capability windows require definition and work with engineering and manufacturing to prioritize opportunities Support efforts including, statistical capability tools, supplier audits and supplier performance metrics Leader for the development of process mapping used to implement and document critical processes Systems Support the deployment of APQP quality deliverables from the automotive SAE standards adapted to the Leviton phased gate reviews, and Reliability processes For new product designs, ensure DFM through design APQP and Reliability deliverables; work with engineering and plant resources to address process capabilities and DFMEA's are linked to PFMEAs, significant and critical characteristics are cascaded and appropriately controlled Lead quality training deployment within the BU inclusive of the BU factories Support and ensure compliance with Oracle Quality tools Lead significant BU quality issue resolution Provide KPI and monthly progress reports from each Plant / Product as a summary for the Business Unit; i.e. first pass yield, internal reject rate, factory chargeable quality concerns, etc. Maintain a close relationship to the factory floor including people, supplier and processing issues Lead the phased implementation of the APQP methodology within the Business Unit Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University required, in engineering or other technical field strongly preferred MBA is a plus ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence preferred Skills & Abilities Proven strong interpersonal and talent management skills Strong background in statistical techniques and application is required A working understanding of the APQP and reliability processes and its deliverables is required Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to work cross functionally Ability to reduce complex concepts into simplified forms and educate others on those concepts Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Travel Up to 30% Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
