The Boeing Product & Services Safety (P&SS) organization is seeking Senior Airworthiness Engineers to join our team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma or St. Louis, Missouri.
This role is responsible for coordinating the activities of international airworthiness requirements programs and establish plans, processes, and requirements to support EMAR 21 (European Military Airworthiness Requirements) for our international programs. This individual will also work with the Enterprise One ODA (Organization Designation Authorization) organization, BDA (Boeing Defense Australia), and BDUK (Boeing Defense United Kingdom) to develop guidance, processes, and plans that support EMAR 21 based programs. This will also include assisting programs to identify Certification Verification Engineers (CVEs), creating and maintaining a CVE database and process repository, and identify/develop/provide applicable training. This position relies heavily on the following skills: working knowledge of international military airworthiness regulations and how to apply these to both design projects and continuing airworthiness programs, and systems engineering process knowledge, leadership, communication, and ability to work independently and within a team.
This role will have the potential for up to 25% travel to support multiple programs.
Collaborate to plan, develop and verify balanced solutions for international programs that are working to the EMAR 21 regulations and/or DO-178 activities
Manage the airworthiness activities of an active international program
Supports program in creation of program level delegated organizations and performs independent audits in support of EMAR requirements
Supports program audits from foreign airworthiness authorities
Maintains costs and schedule and assists program owners in understanding certification issues
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
5+ years of engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with Military Aircraft Airworthiness documents
Experience do you have with Military Aircraft Airworthiness regulations
Experience with MIL-HDBK-516 and implementing military airworthiness processes
Experience working with FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), the Boeing Safety Airworthiness (SAW), and EMAR 21 (European Military Airworthiness Requirements) processes
Experience developing certification artifacts for international programs (Certification Plans, Compliance Matrices, Summary Compliance documents, Means of Compliance requirements and statements, and Certification Basis)
Experience writing and capturing International Airworthiness compliance requirements and documentation
Experience/knowledge with EMAR 21 for international programs
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
