    Job Description

    Great pay & benefits! Lead Facilities/Maintenance Position with Local School District! Work 6 AM to 2:30 PM -Monday through Friday. Work with a great team of professionals !

     General Function:
    Perform repair and preventative maintenance duties for all aspects of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) buildings, equipment, and grounds. Coordinate repair, preventative maintenance and project duties being performed by Maintenance Technicians, Assistants and Floaters.  All work relative to carpentry, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing needs at the BCIU is to be done in a satisfactory manner and time.


    Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent with at least 6 years of maintenance experience is required, with at least 3 years coordinating a team of maintenance technicians.

    Physical Requirements: Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing. Possess a basic understanding of building systems.  Must have a proven ability to read building drawings. Must have a Pennsylvania Drivers License and be able to stand, crawl, crouch, and bend/twist from a stationary position for sustained periods of time. Able to walk sustained period of the workday throughout the school district. Able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum and see with near acuity of 20 inches or less with normal depth perception, color vision, field of vision, and accommodation. Climb to height of 25 feet or more, balancing on ladder, scaffolding, and catwalks. Exposure to various physical hazards and atmospheric conditions that may affect respiratory system and/or skin. Able to stoop repetitively and twist the body from a stationary position and reach. Able to push and pull objects weighting up to 50 pounds and use of fingers to pick, feel, reach, and grasp objects. Lift up to 50 pounds with a height up to 30 inches on a repetitive basis. Dollies are available to assist with weights more than 50 pounds. May climb 12 feet stepladder occasionally to access high areas to perform repairs. Requires use of both hands when operating machinery and when making repairs. May perform fine manipulation when making general repairs. Demonstrate basic computer skills.
    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Responsible for the scheduling and timely completion of routine maintenance tasks as requested.
    2. Responsible for the implementation of a preventative maintenance program for boilers, HVAC equipment, etc.; provide training and guidance to other maintenance contractors in relation to the preventative maintenance program.
    3. Evaluate current needs, both of a routine and emergency nature and determine with the Bucks IU Supervisor of Facilities as to whether work can be done in-house or should be contracted.
    4. Responsible for the acquisition and inventory control of all maintenance supplies and equipment.
    5. Assist the Bucks IU Supervisor of Facilities in developing bids for any supplies or equipment needed         
    6.  On call for emergencies on weekends and holidays.
    7. Repair and maintain all elements of the heating systems; boilers;   burners, unit heaters, thermostats, filters, control devices, and storage  tanks at all IU locations
            8.Repair and maintain all aspects of buildings, equipment, furniture, and                   grounds, i.e., glass, doors, blinds, mowers, roofs, driveways, playground               equipment, plumbing, and electrical items, snow removal, etc.
            9. Keep a record of all maintenance and service activities conducted.
            10. Handle routine questions from visitors to facility.
            11.Coordinate the scheduling and timely completion of routine maintenance              tasks, preventative maintenance and projects assigned to Maintenance                Technicians, Assistants and Floaters.
             12.Comply with all safety norms and regulations set by industry.
