        Job Description

        SUMMARY:

        Under the general supervision of the Supply Chain Manager, the Senior Buyer assures the timely delivery of fully compliant and best-value products that effectively enable CMC to compete globally on the basis of quality, value and service, while developing stable supplier relationships based on trust and loyalty.

        RESPONSIBILITIES:
        Manage day-to-day activities and communications with suppliers, performing all purchasing/planning functions for assigned suppliers by effectively using CMC's Epicor ERP system
        Assure purchased materials meet quality requirements, and are delivered on time at the lowest cost
        Build strong relationships with suppliers and partners, fostering collaboration, and teamwork
        Minimize price variances and actively work to reduce material cost standards over time for the assigned product category(s)
        Apply Lean Methodologies to CMC's supply chain and inventory management processes to maximize on-time delivery and quality while minimizing inventory/working capital
        Identify existing and potential suppliers for assigned projects and categories and conduct market research on suppliers
        Collaborate with Supply Chain Manager to develop and deploy cost optimization strategies (cost reduction, cost avoidance) and negotiate supplier contract/inventory agreements
        Support performance-driven supplier management process using KPI's and regular business reviews with key suppliers to ensure a common understanding of CMC's goals and provide feedback on supplier performance
        Accurately identify systemic risks and facilitate development and deployment of mitigation plans for major finished goods and raw material suppliers
        Collaborate with Engineering and Product Operations Specialist to procure materials for new product development programs in a timely manner

        KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

        Self-starter with excellent business/financial acumen, proficient working with cross-functional teams, including demonstrated motivation, influence, and the ability to drive change across all levels of the organization and geographical boundaries
        Proven ability to exercise independent judgement to make informed and timely decisions
        Supplier management skills including demonstrated ability to develop and manage win-win supplier relationships




        Excellent negotiation skills with a logical approach based on data and current conditions Leadership skills including clearly demonstrated global perspective and understanding of factors affecting businesses and their suppliers
        Proven ability to prioritize and be successful within a heavy workload environment
        Able to manage a multitude of projects simultaneously
        Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
        Advanced Excel data analysis capabilities
        Extensive experience working within an ERP/MRP system, with Epicor experience preferred
        Hands-on experience deploying Lean methodologies within manufacturing and back office environments
        Direct experience working within an ISO 9000:2015 quality management system or similar standard

        QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)
        BA/BS in business, purchasing, or related field or equivalent work experience
        APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) credential is preferred or equivalent Supply Chain Certification is desired
        8-10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with: procurement, purchasing, cost savings, and terms and conditions

        ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
        Working conditions are in a normal office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit and stand; using the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 10 pounds. Successful performance requires good eyesight with or without corrective lens. Requires long periods of time working at a computer.
