Job Description
Boeing is seeking a Space Subsystem Engineer. The Space Subsystem Engineer will be responsible for operational health and safety of the system hardware and software subsystems for a 24x7 supported system. These individuals must work well in a small team environment, and have reliable work attendance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Characterization and analysis of various subsystems for all phases of system operations
- Diagnosing problems in system and identifying the proper factory support personnel to provide solutions to the system problem
- Supporting critical events that require the presence of engineering support to ensure flawless execution
- Oversight and maintenance of real-time software loaded to the systems and subsystems that are assigned to each engineer
- Monitor performance of subsystems, trend the data using analytical tools. As needed develop new tools to improve the ability to analysis the system data
- Responsible for anomaly investigations, fault isolations and recovery activities for given subsystems
- Write and maintain all supporting procedures and processes that pertain to assigned subsystem
- Gather, define, and document system level requirements to support control and mission
- Resolve requirement conflicts
- Perform and document analysis and design of subsystems to validate or assess the system design and/or modes
- Develop solutions and disposition of issues to assure customer satisfaction
- Design trade studies to meet program requirements
- Work independently on assigned projects and seek out guidance and support from peers as needed in a team environment
- Coordinate system changes for your assigned systems with all relevant stake holders prior to execution
- Execute system changes per defined processes ensuring all documentation is up-to-date prior to change
- Lead small teams to resolve complex technical issues for customer for their defined area of expertise
Ability to obtain and maintain system operations certification in role is required.
This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- 1+ years of experience of space/ground interfaces between the ground systems and the space systems (to include software)
- Willing to work nights and occasional holidays
- Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends as needed with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active TS/SCI
- Aerospace engineering degree preferred
- Experience in satellite/aerospace operations environment is desired
- Proficient with Matlab
- Experience with implementing procedures to verify vehicle system stat of health
- Proficient or willing to learn Python
- Proficient with a scripting language like Perl
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
