Astellas is announcing a Director, Ethics and ComplianceCommercial opportunity in Northbrook, IL. Purpose & Scope: TheDirector, Ethics & Compliance Commercial plays a key role indeveloping strategy, implementing and leading the healthcarecompliance program for the Patient Centricity team, RX, Digital,and Advanced Informatcis & Analytics (AIA) in close collaborationwith the Executive Director, Healthcare Compliance, Xtandi, USCommercial & Risk Mitigation. The Director is a strong leader andpromotes a highly ethical, compliant and accountable culture thatencourages and enables employees to raise potential or actualcompliance concerns. Essential Job Responsibilities: Effectivelyimplementing the global compliance standards through strategicplanning, oversight and effective communication, training andmonitoring of policies, controls and initiatives with thedesignated functions. Develops strategy for, oversees and leadshealthcare compliance projects/initiatives for enterprise-widestrategic initiatives and imperatives, including but not limited toPatient Centricity, RX, Digital, and data governance/knowledgemanagement initiatives, through the definition and deployment ofbusiness specific compliance standards and controls, policies,processes, interaction guidelines, training, communications androbust monitoring plans locally, regionally and globally. Developsstrategy for and leads the continuous assessment and enhancement ofthe healthcare compliance program for designated functions incollaboration with business stakeholders, and makes recommendationsto global Ethics & Compliance leaders for opportunities forenhancement. Leads the provision of ethics and compliance guidancefor key strategic business teams/initiatives. Regularly meets withsenior business leaders and participates in and provides advice forstrategic business projects/initiatives. Coordinates andcollaborates closely with the Commercial and Non-commercialHealthcare Compliance teams in order to develop strategies foreffective integrated healthcare compliance program in the divisionand at a local level consistent with globalstrategies/policies/processes; ensures that the ethics andcompliance support is well coordinated, responsive to the businessand in adherence with the Companys highest ethical and compliancestandards. Provide timely and sound guidance, advice, direction andsupport to business stakeholders about the policies, procedures andprocesses that govern their interactions with commercial andnon-commercial functions. Partner with internal oversightfunctions, including the Ethics & Compliance monitoring team andInternal Audit, to develop and implement effective auditing and/ormonitoring plans these activities, including the delivery ofreports and metrics. Partner with Ethics & Compliance and Legalcolleagues, globally, to proactively address issues and identifyopportunities for collaboration, alignment, process improvement andbest practice sharing and implementation. Implement compliancestrategy and support for Advanced Informatics & Analytics (AIA)including providing workable and scalable guidance to encourage thecompliant development and implementation of new data governance andknowledge management initiatives on a global scale. Collaborateswith cross-functional teams globally to influence the HealthcareCompliance strategy to ensure alignment globally and supportdevelopment and expertise within Ethics & Compliance. Researches,benchmarks and stays current with applicable legal and regulatorydevelopments, industry standards and the changing healthcarelandscape to determine emerging compliance trends and incorporatessuch developments, standards and trends into education for thenon-commercial healthcare compliance team at the regional and locallevel as well as the compliance strategies and advice provided tothe business. Contribute to the development and implementation oflong-range strategic plans to advance Ethics & Compliance. Otherspecial projects and responsibilities as assigned. QuantitativeDimensions: Establish a strong and visible compliance presence withthe clients organizations. Ensure systems, policies and processesare effective and efficient. Develop strategy, content and conductcompliance training for client groups. Develop and conduct ongoingmonitoring of client activities, events and programs. Providetimely and appropriate responses to client requests and inquiries.Organizational Context: This position will interact with employeesthrough the Vice President level across Commercial andNon-Commercial functional areas in the Americas and worldwide.Qualifications: Required BA/BS degree. 7 years of related workexperience. 4 years of pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industryexperience. Knowledge of and experience in developing andimplementing processes and systems that govern transactions andapproval workflow. Strong leadership skills and strategic focus.Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, effectivelycollaborate with multiple functional units, lead without authority,exercise tact and discretion in assessing compliance needs, and torespond timely and accurately to compliance inquiries. Excellentoral and written communication and presentation skills required.Ability to effectively communicate compliance issues verbally andin writing in a clear and understandable manner. Demonstratedability to inspire trust and confidence through effectivecommunication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to beproactive, identify and focus on critical priorities and managemultiple projects simultaneously. Strong work ethic and ability toproduce high quality work under deadline pressures. Preferred Priorcompliance experience is preferred. Masters or other advanceddegree is preferred.
