Position Description: The Senior Software Analyst will deliver subject matter expert level Software Operations, Requirements, Verification, and Validation support to the Systems Engineering and Integration Division. The selected candidate will possess a solid understanding of the software development, test, and verification engineering discipline and be well articulated and comfortable working in a CMMI Level 3 environment. Responsibilities: The candidate will be proficient in Agile Development Processes as they apply to the development and certification of Software Documentation to include Software Requirements, Interface Control, Software Design, and Software Test Documents. They will also have skills in providing test reports, supporting test readiness, and anomaly reviews, and interaction with Software Readiness Boards in support of formal software product release. Develop and maintain Software Operations Requirements through extensive inter and intra team communications e.g. Configuration Management, Design, Test, and Software Review Boards. Develop and update SW Work Instructions and SW User Guides. Interact with Design, Test teams, and external vendors to develop and automate products and processes used to create them. Collaborate with stakeholders with respect to System and Sub-system interface design. A solid understanding of the disciplines involved with the formal release of software and its associated artifacts. Experience with the design and maintenance of software repositories, ideally Subversion. This task requires evaluation of ongoing trade studies and work instruction packages and engineering change packages; the support of internal and external and project level reviews, working groups, vendor technical interchange meetings, peer reviews, code walkthroughs, and other project meetings associated with the software delivery life cycle. This position provides regular reports to the Group Lead and NASA customer Chief Engineer. Qualifications: Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a BS with at least 25 years' experience. Degree from an ABET accredited university preferred. Experience with Agile software development methodologies or other software development methodology. Understanding of Systems and Software Engineering processes such as Agile and Object-Oriented Methodologies. Experience with DOORS and customization of DOORS to project requirements. Ability to write and maintain technical documents including Experience in evaluating test data to correlate with test findings and investigate potential anomalies. Experience in reviewing program/project documents and provide relevant comments from a test perspective. Experience the creation, review, and development of Software products to support to the Systems Engineering and Integration Division within the Space Systems Department at MSFC. This includes technical performance requirements, functional flow decomposition and diagrams, trade studies, functional allocation, interface requirement documents, verification requirement planning, software requirement specifications, verification matrices, reliability and others. Develop and maintain Software Operations documentation through extensive inter and intra team communications e.g. Configuration Management, Design, Test, and Software Review Boards. Perform analyses and trade studies to determine the proper distribution and definition of requirements to meet the competing demands of performance, cost, and schedule. Interact with Design, Test teams, and external vendors to develop and automate products and processes used to create them. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Participate in meetings in support of the above activities. Additional Skills: Previous experience in defining operational scenarios and real-time planning for pre-launch operations where the integrated SLS vehicle is being checked out and tested to prepare for launch Experience writing and/or using software user notes/operational notes Previous experience in writing work procedures (i.e. console procedures), deviations, non-conformance (PRACA), training and certification of operators, etc. Knowledge/experience with pre-launch test, checkout, and launch operations Previous experience performing inter/intra- agency liaison in representation of interface designs in the form of published Software Requirements, Interface Control Documentation, User Specifications and other System/Software Operational Specifications. Previous experience in the specification of avionics flight software requirements, design, interfaces, and associated tools for a launch vehicle system is desirable. Previous experience in the definition of released product artifact Configuration Management (CM) that would support proof of test, compliance, and work packages. Strong configuration management skills; management of configuration for many places - internally to FSW, SITF, SIL, 6-DOFs at MSFC and at Flight Operations Division (FOD), Green Run, KSC (flight operations) Knowledge/experience with either authoring/implementation of Launch Commit Criteria (LCCs) and Operational Maintenance and Requirements Specifications (OMRS) Excel skills and ability to write small visual basic macros to manipulate data and apply formatting Ability to retrieve and analyze data from telemetry stream Previous experience with DoD/NASA Software products in a formal sense, such as formal releases, change impact assessments at/for Software Release and Control Boards, Quality Assurance and Verification/Validation of NASA or other Man Rated Systems is highly desirable. Experience with the representation of a software products in terms of flow down and traceability in all phases of software product lifecycles to include Requirements Definition and Management, Configuration Management, Development, Test/ Verification, and release/deployment. Previous experience with the definition of technical interfaces to include 1553, RS 422, TCIP, and related design impacts to the definition, capture, and analysis of embedded real time software products. Ability to review and provide relevant feedback on avionics and software technical products Broad understanding of Systems and Software Engineering processes such as Agile, Object Oriented Methodologies and CMMI processes. Previous experience with representations of requirements/designs in several formats such as UML diagrams, Excel Data Base specifications, and Functional Flow. Experience with DOORS as a repository and automation tool for Requirement Specification is desirable. Understanding the perspective of the end user of the product you manage Excellent communication, team interaction, technical leadership, accountability, and problem-solving skills are critical requirements for the selected candidate. Microsoft Office Suite of Products Technical writing and presentation capabilities Proficiency utilizing Software languages: C, C++, Unix/Linux and DOS command prompt.
