Job Number DF21-28 About the Opportunity We are seeking a Director of Information Technology Services who is an innovative leader that possesses senior technology leadership experience, enjoys directing and managing IT strategy, executing plans, schedules, policies, programs, and is passionate about working with the public sector. The Director of ITS will provide overall direction and leadership for the IT Infrastructure, IT Systems, and library branch data services. The King County Library System IT Infrastructure includes a wide area data network supporting 50 sites across King County from Richmond Beach to the Muckleshoot Tribe, from White Center to Skykomish, including the sizable communities of Bellevue, Bothell, Federal Way, and Kent. The Infrastructure includes management and support of over 5,000 networked devices including desktop computers, laptops, printers, kiosks, AV systems and LAN equipment and Infrastructure at each library site with a significant central server array at the Issaquah Service Center. Systems under the stewardship of the Director of ITS include but are not limited to Evergreen Open Source, Envisionware, Cisco VOIP, Azure, Office 365, SharePoint, SCCM, Bibliocommons, Ceridian, J.D. Edwards, Linux, PostGreSQL, Power BI and Teams. This position will play an important part of the Executive Leadership team and will have the opportunity to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. General Position Summary The Director of Information Technology Services plans the overall technological direction of the department. Supervises managers who direct the staff and systems in the department. Manages the integration of new technology and programs into the existing King County Library System technology environment. Projects a service ethic and process through the department and to staff and public customers. Respond directly to King County Library System staff and resolve individual problems. Reconcile relationships and politics at an administrative level. Assist Information Technology Manager in the management of their departments. Secondary Duties Management of relationships and processes which influence inter-departmental operations. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Preference will be given to candidates with the following A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, abilities and skills for this position is Bachelorrsquos degree or equivalent specializing in computer science, management information systems, information technology, or related field. Eight to ten yearsrsquo experience in technology administration in a large organization. PHYSICAL DEMANDS WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly using fingers in conjunction with handling and keyboarding, this computer work may be repetitive up to occasionally. Constantly sits and will occasionally stand or walk. Will frequently reach up to chest level with hands and arms, occasionally reaches over shoulder or below waist. Neck rotation may be frequent to work on equipment or use multiple monitors. The employee will occasionally lift to 10 pounds and seldom up to 35 pounds and seldom pushpull carts using light force. Work Environment Work is performed in a normal office environment. Constant sitting and extensive PC monitoring work are involved in the position.
