        Position Overview:

        The CCD/PCU Director has 24 hour directoversight/accountability for providing overall leadership and management of a designatedpatient care area which promotes excellent nursing care, cost effective use ofmaterials and human resources, professional growth and job satisfaction. Thisposition provides direction of the nursing care delivered in a highly technicalenvironment dealing with a full spectrum of cardiovascular, pathophysiology,including telemetry capabilities for medical/surgical patients. Must interactwith several physician groups regarding concerns which must be met and/orupdated. This may include immediate patient care issues or departmentfunctioning issues. This is accomplished through individual meetings with groupmembers, the Medical Director, the Chief of Staff and through regularly scheduledMedical Staff meetings. Physicians regularly utilizing the CCD/PCU may includecardiologists, internists, neurologists and family practice physicians.

        The CCD/PCU Director oversees the, implementation andon-going maintenance of the Nursing Workload computer system. Responsibilitiesfor this role also include staff and management education, data preparation andanalysis interpretation. Also oversee the installation, implementation andon-going monitoring of the electronic health record.

        This position reports to the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) ofSutter Amador Hospital. This position also functionally reports to the MedicalDirector to support the delivery of quality medical care and development ofsuccessful practice.




        Qualifications:

        Education

        • Associate's Degree in Nursing is required
        • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in related field preferred

        Licensures and Certifications

        • Extensive successful management experience in a highly productive leadership role is required.
        • Mastery in leading multiple levels of personnel in a multi-complex, dynamic environment is required.
        • Prior experience as an RN in an acute care setting for 3 years is required.
        • Administrative or supervisory experience in a hospital department or health services.
        • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and implement a patient focused program in a healthcare setting.

        Skills and Knowledge

        • The incumbent must be well versed in the administrative and clinical areas supervised.
        • Qualifications include proven successful experience with physician relations, marketing opportunities, supervision, personnel management, clinical/nonclinical and operating budget preparation, project planning and management within a complex environment.

        • Excellent written and oral communications skills along with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements including The Joint Commission, Department of Health Services (DHS), and Title 22 specifications.

        • The incumbent must be well versed in hospital and medical staff organization and structure; must be fluent in medical terminology to include diagnostic and operative procedures.

        • Current knowledge of State, Federal and Professional industry standards pertaining to healthcare practice is desired.

        • Knowledge of adult education principals is required.

        • Conceptual, analytical, and problem solving skills in a complex environment are required.

        • Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with individuals in all levels of hospital and medical staff organization.

        • Ability to work with confidential information.

        • Excellent presentation skills are necessary.

        • Leadership and team skills that enable working cooperatively with diverse groups of people in all facilities.

        • Must possess computer skills and knowledge required to support a nursing information system.

        • National certification appropriate to the area of specialty is preferred.



        This position may regularly work, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drug(s) identified as hazardous, or potentially hazardous, by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for purposes of USP 800.
