McKonly & Asbury, founded in 1973, is one of Pennsylvania's most respected accounting and consulting firms. We are assisting one of our clients in the human services industry. Our client is a nonprofit with a track record of success in multiple states, though founded in Pennsylvania. Our client is in search of an experienced Controller, who believes and is committed to working in a pro-life environment at their headquarters in the Harrisburg, PA area.
Reporting directly to the VP of Administration, the Controller is responsible for monthly financial statements and reporting, along with the management of a two person accounting staff. While the staff performs A/R, A/P and general ledger accounting tasks, the Controller is responsible for review and compliance of all statements. The Controller is also responsible for 990 completion prior to external review, and review of the externally prepared 5500 for the 403b plan. This individual also drives the annual budget process, and reports regularly on progress, variances and overall financial position to the VP of Administration. The Controller assists the VP of Administration's interaction with external auditors and bank representatives.
One of most important technical qualifications for the successful candidate will be demonstrated experience working within the services industry, with non-profit organizations, and preferably, in the general health care industry. Our client requires a minimum of a four year degree in accounting or finance, with a minimum of ten years' experience in the accounting field. A CPA license is desired. High level competence in accounting packages and spreadsheet software will be needed. Strong familiarity with GAAP is an absolute must.
The client's work environment is one where hard work and honest feedback amongst team members is the norm. Minimum of five years of supervisory experience required. While interaction takes places with co-workers, it is expected that this level of position will direct their own work efforts without the need for significant oversight. While some intermittent travel to conferences, continuing education and service locations may be required, the large majority of the work week will be spent at the headquarters location. Remote work from home or other location is a rare, if not non-existent possibility in this position.
Our client provides a competitive compensation package commensurate with the criticality of this role, which includes market leading health care benefits, paid time off, and a retirement plan. If you are interested in building a career with great pro-life people, in a great place to live and work, please send resume to email@example.com! Qualified candidates will be provided with more details and relevant company information.
