Client is searching for a hands-on Operations Manager who knows what it takes to run a high-performing facility, together with experience in logistics and quality control. We service the best national customers with a same-day shipment window. Managing a hectic schedule and variable resources is a priority. You will deal with planning, administration and general management issues, including the day-to-day supervision of staff, and overseeing work organized by team leaders. The entire warehouse team, including the warehouse supervisor reports to this position. During peak times, it won't be uncommon that you will need to roll up your sleeves and help out directly in the warehouse to make sure our customer's compliance standards are always met. The role is responsible for our owned warehouse. This position reports to the COO.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan the arrangement of products within the Distribution Center and organize special requirements for stock, ensuring quality, delivery and budget objectives are met on a daily basis
Ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a team of staff and handle personnel issues such as the recruitment, training and discipline
Oversee stock control; picking, packing; and distribution activity
Effectively interact with management and staff, and communicate with customers by email, in-person, and via telephone
Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met
Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports that reflects the key performance metrics for the department
Oversee the planned maintenance of machinery and equipment
Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock
Ensure that all customer processes are handled within their required guidelines.
Read, understand, and manage to all customer vendor guides, making sure all processes are compliant, eliminating chargebacks.
Understand quality control requirements and work with the quality assurance team to deliver top quality product.
Research and dispute customer performance chargebacks. When valid, identify process failures and implement immediate corrections.
Manage inventory counts, both annually for complete inventory and incremental cycle counts as required
Oversee non-shipping warehouse operations, including building of product kits, and packaging products for resale
Schedule inbound and outbound shipments while maximizing cost savings and avoiding detention costs
Understand scheduling and logistics to insure on-time inbound receipts and delivery of products
Partner with logistics to negotiate annual vendor contracts for transportation.
Implement and manage together with our IT team, a new WMS system. Identify ways to leverage our existing ERP and WMS to eliminate manual processes
Manage and update standard operating procedure documents surrounding operational requirements
Other duties as required by business operations

BA/BS Degree is required
Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a progressive operations manager with experience in a parcel pick/pack shipping environment
Experience with quality control and transportation logistics
Experience in training and safety, plus knowledge of OSHA rules is required
Prior experience with EDI
Willingness to lead by example and work hands-on as necessary
Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and database systems
Proficiency in using customer-based web portals
Creative problem-solver who can work on a tactical and strategic level
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Enthusiastic team player, able to take initiative and make sound decisions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Tool & Skills Required
Understanding of ERP, WMS and EDI systems
Ability to become licensed to drive a forklift and manage complex equipment as such
Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand and enforce policies, procedures, and vendor manuals
