Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) - Tech performs in-vitro analysis of biologic specimens according to established procedures for the Microbiology and Molecular Pathology Department. This individual also participates in supportive functions including but, not limited to quality control, instrument operation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, includes either 24 semester hours of clinical laboratory science courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester 2
hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or clinical laboratory science in any combination.
Preferred/Optional: Major in biology, microbiology, or molecular biology.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: None
Preferred/Optional: One or more years working in a laboratory. Previous experience with nucleic acid extractions, molecular assays including PCR and DNA sequencing.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Previous Molecular Pathology experience preferred but not required - to include: PCR; Diasorin, Gene Expert, and/or Panther operation.
Hours - variable; nights and alternating weekends required
