            Job Description

            About J.P. Morgan:

J.P. Morgan is a leader in financial services, offering innovative and intelligent solutions to clients in more than 100 countries with one of the most comprehensive global product platforms available. We have been helping our clients to do business and manage their wealth for more than 200 years and we keep their interests foremost in our minds at all times. This combination of product strength, intellectual capital and character sets us apart as an industry leader. J.P. Morgan is part of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), a global financial services firm with assets of $2.0 trillion.

            What to expect:

Research is an important component of the firm's successful equity franchise. Our equity research team has grown substantially and has become one of the largest equity research houses in terms of companies covered. Senior analysts serve three different "client" constituencies in their career: the companies in the sectors they follow; the institutional investors that are J.P. Morgan's clients; and the internal personnel from sales and trading who leverage our analysts' research and industry/sector expertise. This capability supports an outstanding network of relationships with corporate and institutional clients that lie at the heart of our Investment Banking franchise.

The Research Analyst's primary responsibilities are industry analysis and company-specific coverage for the sector team. This involves core research on the industry and its companies, modeling the financials and forecasts, writing First Call notes and company updates as well as new reports and theme pieces, and speaking over the Hoot, at the Morning Meeting, and with clients.

Part-time Research Interns will work approximately 19 hours per week in our Portland (ME), midtown Manhattan (NY) or San Francisco (CA) offices. This is a paid internship for both the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters with an expected start around October 1, 2020.

            About you

Research is fast-paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for candidates who are eager to learn, inquisitive, and curious and possess strong critical thinking, quantitative, and communication skills. A well-rounded academic background is important in your undergraduate studies. You certainly don’t need a degree in Economics or Finance, but interest in markets and comfort with numbers and financial statements is required. Beyond that, what we’re most interested in are the things that make you, you: the personal qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate the kind of person you are and the perspective you could bring to the team. Key skills include:
            • Proven analytical skills, experience with quantitative and data analysis
            • Exceptional writing skills
            • Genuine interest in financial markets and economic data and trends
            • Ability to multi-task and collaborate within a team environment
            • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
            • Enrolled in a MBA, Masters, or PhD program from a local (New York City, San Francisco, Portland, Maine area) college/university.
            • Pursuing an MBA, Masters, or PhD degree with an expected graduation date of May 2021 – June 2024.
            • Minimum preferred cumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
            • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
            Join us

At J.P. Morgan, we’re creating positive change for the diverse communities we serve. We do this by championing your innovative ideas through a supportive culture that helps you every step of the way as you build your career. If you’re passionate, curious and ready to make an impact, we’re looking for you.

            What’s next?

Help us learn about you by submitting a complete and thoughtful application, which includes your resume. Your application and resume is a way for us to initially get to know you, so it’s important to complete all relevant application questions so we have as much information about you as possible.

To get started, enter your email address. Your email address will be used to create and maintain your profile. If you are a current JPMC employee, use your JPMC email address to apply for jobs internally. Do not use an email address with “.edu” extension as doing so could result in delays receiving updates regarding your candidacy.

After you confirm your application, we will review it to determine whether you meet certain required qualifications.

If you are advanced to the next step of the process, you’ll receive an email invitation to complete a series of 12 games through the pymetrics platform. pymetrics will allow you to showcase your potential beyond what you tell us in your resume and application form. It’s an additional data point that helps us gain a better understanding of who you are as an individual. It should take no longer than 25-35 minutes to complete. If you have already completed the pymetrics games, you will have the opportunity to submit your gameplay results for this specific application without having to replay the games.

Following completion of pymetrics, you’ll receive another email invitation to complete a video interview, powered by HireVue. This is your opportunity to further bring your resume to life and showcase your experience for our recruiting team and hiring managers.

Both pymetrics and HireVue are required, and your application will not be considered for further review until you have completed them. We strongly encourage that you apply and complete these required elements as soon as possible, since programs will close as positions are filled.
