    Job Description

    Reports to: Vice President of Enrollment Management

    Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, the Director of Financial Aid is a dynamic and dedicated professional responsible for all areas of compliance and administration. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for managing a continuous financial aid operation with superior customer service to financial aid applicants, their families, and members of the college community.

    The Director of Financial Aid works collaboratively with other key departments and personnel to achieve institutional goals through established federal guidelines regarding the effective and efficient distribution of financial aid funding among our prospective and current students while meeting the institution's enrollment, budgetary and net tuition revenue goals.

    The Director of Financial Aid manages the daily operations of the Financial Aid office including, but not limited to: strategic planning, policy development, professional development, effective execution of current Federal, State and Institutional regulations, engaging prospective and current students in the Federal and State Financial Aid Processes, and assisting the VP of Enrollment Management in achieving institutional enrollment goals, and being in an active role regarding student's retention.

    Essential Functions

    • Draws on extensive financial aid knowledge and expertise to develop an effective delivery of customer service to assist students and families in progressing through the financial aid process.
    • Manages the administration of federal and state aid. Provides oversight of standard financial aid duties such as needs analysis, verification, loan processing, and satisfactory academic progress (SAP) monitoring and managing all aspects of compliance and associated regulations.
    • Resolves disbursement issues with Bursar (Student Accounts) and other college offices and improves processes to ensure that students are not negatively impacted.
    • Oversees updates to the annual cost of attendance.
    • Develops counseling staff in interpersonal coaching strategies, financial aid planning, and conflict resolution.
    • Supervises and provides leadership to support the goals and outcomes of other departments across the college.
    • Certification of Private Loans.
    • Provides oversight of department activities to develop and achieve annual goals, including budgeting and planning.
    • Coordinates the communication plan to students and college members as needed.
    • Completes the FISAP and other federal (and state) mandated financial aid reporting requirements and annual surveys in coordination with the Institutional Research Office.
    • Serves on college committees as assigned. Assists with conducting on and off-campus presentations, seminars, and/or workshops for students. Also presenting Financial Aid workshops and Informational Sessions at various events.
    • Resolves and/or assists in the resolution of problems and/or complaints and implement corrective action(s) as appropriate.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Enrollment Management.
    • Strive to improve the overall educational experience of our students.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    This job position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, and software.

    Position Type and Hours of Work

    This full-time position has scheduled days and work hours of Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

    Qualifications

    • Must be a seasoned financial aid professional with at least 5 years of progressive experience and demonstrated success working with Federal and State financial aid programs
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a diverse, dynamic team of professionals
    • Supervisory and administrative experience
