Position Description:

Jamestown Community College seeks to hire a Plumbing Instructor to plan, teach and evaluate a non-credit, evening, Residential Plumbing program offered through the Workforce Readiness department on the Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean NY. Topics include, but are not limited to: safety, plumbing tools, math for plumbing, print reading and sketching, soldering, brazing, water supply systems, fixtures, piping materials and fittings, valves and meters, installing fixtures and appliances, designing plumbing systems, excavating, water treatment, septic systems, storm water and sumps, and remodeling. This is a contractual, 150 hours per year, part time position. 

Responsibilities: 

• Teach basic foundational elements of residential plumbing through a combination of lecture and applied learning via hands-on activities. 
• Develop learner centered lesson plans based on master syllabi. 
• Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including supplementary materials for lecture and lab-based activities. 
• Identify proper tools and equipment required for the lab portion of the program. 
• Conduct appropriate assessment of individual student learning. 
• Deliver content using a variety of methods to meet the needs of individual learners. 
• Assists Workforce Readiness staff, as appropriate, in the maintenance of instructional materials and laboratory facilities.   

Qualifications:

Required: Experience working within the plumbing trade at a Journeyman Level or a minimum of five (5) years of on-the-job experience or a combination of training and experience.  The ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in working with professional residential plumbing. 

Preferred:  Associate’s Degree and at least ten years' of experience working within trade at a Journeyman Level. Experience with teaching adults and curriculum development. Experience teaching adult learners and flexibility in working with diverse groups. A basic understanding of Microsoft Office.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
