The Construction Project Superintendent will work directly in support of the Project Manager and in cooperation with our clients including NAVFAC, the US Army Corps of Engineers and various commercial entities. The Superintendent is directly responsible to the Project Manager for the proper discharge of his duties. He may delegate portions of his authority to other qualified personnel, but does not relinquish total responsibility. The General Superintendent is held responsible for the quality of production and will perform the duties of the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and the Quality Control (QC) Manager from time to time.

Duties and Responsibilities:
For Government Contracts:
§ Review the Final RFP, approved design drawings and technical specifications and approved submittals for compliance with the contract as outlined within the specifications before beginning work
§ Conduct a pre-construction site investigation of the existing conditions.
§ Issue a STOP WORK order if any unsafe work conditions and procedures are observed
§ Hold project progress meetings on a weekly basis, or as required, and participate in the Preparatory Meetings for each Definable Feature of Work.
§ Coordinate all production activities with the QC Manager and SSHO and report to the Project Manager
§ Maintain close coordination between the Government Contracting Officer’s Representatives regarding specific project concerns and production procedures unique to the project
§ Prepare contractors production reports daily for distribution to the Government
For All Projects:
§ Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met
§ Read specifications, and blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures
§ Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs
§ Supervise, coordinate, or schedule the activities of employees and subcontractors
§ Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities
§ Order or requisition materials or supplies
§ Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment, using measuring and marking equipment
§ Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports
§ Assign work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs
§ Responsible for maintaining the construction schedule
§ Conduct Safety Tail Gate meetings
§ Responsible for all site safety compliance
§ Keep Project Manager up to date with all site activities
§ Prepares all Request for Information and/or Clarification to the Architect for field issues
§ Attend weekly jobsite meetings with the Project Manager, Owner/Customer and Architect
§ Maintain a good relationship with the Project Manager, seeking his/her assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment and subcontractors
§ Maintains close communication with Project Manager concerning unforeseen problems
§ Comply with all company and E.E.O.C. policies
§ Maintain a continuous high standard of quality control
§ Assist the foreman with any problems.
§ Maintain good relationships with inspectors, architects, subcontractors and other key people connected with the project
§ Represent Company when customer or other agencies visit the project
§ Study and understand the contract documents of each project before, as well as after estimating to determine areas, including provisions of the general or special conditions, that may be ambiguous or present problems or result in unforeseen costs. Such matters should be brought to the attention of the Project Manager.
§ Assist in the preparation at various stages (pre-bid, post award, etc.) and updates as necessary the job progress schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
§ Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with progress schedule and adjust as necessary due to changes.
§ Resolve, or assist Job Superintendent in resolving, design and detail problems with owners, design agents, suppliers, and subcontractors.
§ Prepare periodic percent completion data for job cost report and monitor printouts to correct mis-postings and other errors.
§ In conjunction with Job Superintendent, prepare data for monthly invoices and submit in a timely manner to the Project Manager
§ Assure that details and submittals are received, submitted, corrected, approved and returned to the suppliers and subcontractors to assure delivery of materials and equipment to support progress schedules. Supervise submittal control data
§ Request extensions of time as required by contract documents
§ Monitor the maintenance of as-built drawings as required on projects. Assure maintenance of a permanent record set, or that “as-built” information is transferred to permanent record set
§ Attend seminars on estimating, management and construction techniques as the PM/Owners request
§ Prepare special reports requested by the PM/Owners
§ Have thorough knowledge of company procedures manual
