              Job Description

              Notice to Applicant about this Employer: You are applying for a job with an independently owned cooperative member of Ace Hardware Corporation, who operates this Ace Hardware store, not Ace Hardware Corporation.  The independent store owner alone is responsible for and independently makes all decisions concerning employment related matters, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervision, staffing and scheduling.               Position Summary 
              Cashiers are responsible for maintaining Guest Service as per company standard, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register operations (POS), and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards. 
              
              Essential Duties and Responsibilities
              The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
              Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards 
              Ensuring that each Guest receives outstanding Guest Service by providing a Guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Guest, maintaining outstanding standards and a positive attitude, solid product knowledge, merchandise promotions and advertisements, and all other components of Guest Service
              Overseeing and authorizing Guest returns, exchanges, merchandise credits, check authorizations, charge sends, rain checks and discretion discounts (e.g. competitive, employee sales, etc.)
              Assures the completion of all POS transactions and the proper control of all cash and media at the POS registers according to Company policies and procedures
              Assisting in providing floor moves, housekeeping, display maintenance and replenishing merchandise as needed and any other duties as assigned by management
              Adhering to all Company policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention
              Communicating Guest requests to management
              Assisting in the training of new cashiers and cross training of other associates when assigned by management
              Perform other duties as assigned
              
              Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
              Be at least 16 years of age
              Goal Oriented
              Ability to process information/merchandise through computer system and POS register system 
              Ability to communicate with associates and guests
              Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation
              Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area 
              Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds
              Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store 
              Ability to climb ladders
              Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, Saturdays, and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be high.
