POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Technician Potting
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
SUMMARY: Primary responsibility will be to work in and assume responsibility for the potting lab to mold and encapsulate all transducers and other sensors. These products include but are not limited to single beam, multi-beam, altimeter and special application transducers. There will be secondary responsibilities involved like assembly, soldering and basic testing of the products where we will be willing to train the right applicant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the urethane lab including the assembly, pouring and maintenance of molds as required.
Follow a detailed pouring process that may include heat cycles and vacuum cycles that are critical to producing a quality product.
Inspect equipment and report any issues on a timely basis to the supervisor.
Maintain the lab and all the equipment and supplies required for it to perform correctly.
Basic understand of the normal urethane pouring process.
In-process and final transducer testing and pressure testing.
Suggest improvements to reduce cycle time and increase productivity.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Final assembly of sonar transducers including cable preparation, wiring, soldering, cable dressing using a variety of fixtures, hand tools
Electro-mechanical assembly of transducer components and subassemblies with emphasis on precision layout of transducer elements and components.
Test sub-assemblies and finished products as required
Perform assignments in a timely manner following schedules and procedures
Contribute to documentation, process and product improvements
Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area
Provide general mechanical assembly support
Other tasks and duties as assigned
Detail oriented person must have meticulous workmanship and organizational skills
Solid electro-mechanical assembly, wiring and soldering skills a plus
Able to read, understand and work from industry standard Manufacturing documentation
Able to occasionally lift and work with fixtures up to 50-60 pounds
Proficient with general PC operation, Microsoft Word and Excel, and file management
Good interpersonal skills and able to work well with people at all levels
Ability to handle multiple tasks and stay flexible.
Must possess the ability to learn new skills if required.
