    The Manager, Accounts Receivable leads the Accounts Receivable (AR) team at Lighthouse. The AR team manages and improves our company’s AR processes, handles cash collections, maintains AR ledgers, and manages financial reporting and analysis related to AR.

    The Manager, Account Receivable is responsibility for developing policies and procedures regarding bill payment, credit and collection activities, and billing investigations. Under the Manager’s guidance, the AR team manages a complex AR cycle that often involves multiple parties who review, approve, and pay our invoices. The team analyzes metrics to gain insights into AR dynamics, and uses the resulting insights to improve our AR cycle time and our company’s overall financial performance.


    The AR team coordinates with the Accounting team to ensure that AR-related accounting is correct. The AR team also handles AR-related aspects of the month-end close.

    There is a client-facing element, as well. The AR team sends invoices to clients and submits them into online billing systems, answers invoice-related questions, and reaches out to clients as needed to ensure that our invoices are paid in a timely manner.


    The Manager coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the AR team. The Manager sets priorities, including metrics, for the team to ensure task completion, and coordinates work activities with other leaders. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures, and business plans. The Manager receives guidance and oversight from the Billing Manager, Finance.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Leads AR team.
    • Manages and improves AR processes.
    • Manages collections of high-value and/or complex clients.
    • Develops policies and procedures regarding bill payment, credit and collection activities, and billing investigations.
    • Oversees the maintenance of AR ledgers. Leads AR-related aspects of month-end close.
    • Analyzes metrics to gain insights into AR dynamics. Uses analytical insights to drive improvements in our AR cycle time and our company’s overall financial performance.
    • Generates AR-related reports as part of financial reporting packages. Creates reports to track progress toward AR goals.
    • Submits invoices to clients via email and online billing systems. Sends invoice statements to clients. Answers invoice-related questions from clients. Tracks invoices and ensures that they are paid in a timely manner.
    • Handles customer overpayments.
    • Provides other accounting, reporting, and analytical assistance to the Finance Team as needed, especially during the month-end close.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent education / experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable accounting and analysis.
    • 3+ years of managerial experience
    • Deep understanding of AR processes and metrics. Track record of driving improvements in AR cycle time and related metrics.
    • Experience in client-facing roles.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with clients, finance team members, and cross functional teams.
    • Passion for continually improving systems and processes.
    • Highly organized, with the ability to juggle competing priorities, be proactive, seek assistance when needed, and meet tight deadlines.
    • Experience using online billing systems like Serengeti and ELM Solutions a plus.
    • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics SL, ServiceNow, QuickBooks, and/or QuickBase a plus.


    Working Conditions

    General open office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an open office environment, with standard office equipment available.


    Physical & Cognitive Demands

    Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary work station; regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 10 lbs. Learn and comprehend basic instructions, focus on and attend to tasks and responsibilities. Verbal communication, listening and understanding, responding and speaking.
