Agriculture / Plant Pathology Technician _ Beaver Crossing, NE

Kelly Services is currently seeking a Agriculture / Plant Pathology Technician for one of our top clients in Beaver Crossing, NE.

 

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch, Monday thru Friday; some weekend and overtime during peak seasons

Pay: $25/hr

Duration: 12 months

 

Looking for energetic and committed team members to support breeding activities. The position would support the soybean and wheat breeding programs. Most activities are done with a team of technicians under the supervision of full-time employees.

 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Field & Processing

• Planting/Harvest preparation
• Inoculation for disease development and data collection at appropriate time.
• Machine/Hand harvest and threshing of wheat
• Seed processing
• Seed inventory

Greenhouse

• Planting wheat seeds and inoculation with pathogen for germplasm screening.
• Increase inoculum for greenhouse and field trials.
• Assisting with cleaning and sanitation of the greenhouse and growth chamber facility, equipment, and supplies
• Data collection and entry in Microsoft Word and Access

Laboratory

• Isolation and maintenance of microbial cultures
• Large scale inoculum production
• Assisting with the care of the lab, equipment, and supplies
• Data collection and entry in Microsoft Word and Access

 

Qualifications:

• Plant pathology, microbiology, agronomy or biology experience and/or crop experience preferred but not required.
• Basic computing skills in order to use Microsoft Office applications.
• Physical stamina needed to perform job functions.
