If hired, the independent store owner will be your only employer. General Summary The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise. Cashiers are the first opportunity in our store to provide exceptional customer service. We expect cashiers to process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently. Cashiers are expected to multi-task and be productive during slow and busy shifts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the following: Customer Service • Project a positive representation. • Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible. • Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates. • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently. • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively. • Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance. • Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with product location. • Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise. Register Operations • Follow all cash register transaction procedures. • Ability to count accurate change to ensure no overages or shortages of money • Ability to process transactions accurately and maintain an accurate cash drawer • Experience using a computer and software programs • Ability to multi-task Front End Appearance and Upkeep • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end. • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change. • Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times. • Perform all other duties as assigned. • Must show attention to detail and good mathematical skills Other Essential Requirements • Passion for helping customers and working with a team • Availability must be flexible to the needs of the business Education/Training • High School or GED equivalent. Experience • Cashier experience preferred • Customer service experience preferred Physical Demands • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 40lbs) and climbing. Some years later the business was taken over by the three brothers. Around 1976 Northshore Hardware began its association with Ace Hardware. Expanding inventory deeper into plumbing, electrical and builder's hardware. Northshore Hardware was known for its wealth of knowledge and advice, while also specializing in paint, fertilizer, small engine repair, skate sharpening and window repair. A vision to expand began to emerge and in May of 2005 Spring Lake Ace Hardware became a reality. This 15,000 square foot store allowed the growth of other categories including: patio furniture, Weber grills, Toro mowers and snow blowers, and a full line of Stihl products.
