Maintenance Worker
Basic Purpose and Objective:
Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures, performs routine maintenance and repairs to machinery, equipment, and building and grounds.
Specific Duties Responsibilities:
Performs preventative maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment per pre-established schedules. Disassembles and reassembles machinery and equipment using various power and manual machinery and tools. Performs a variety of building, machinery, and equipment repairs, installation, or modification. Obtains materials and supplies from local distributors, warehouses, or merchants. Prepares a list of materials required to perform assigned tasks. Familiarity with computer controlled equipment. Cleans equipment, machinery and building. Miscellaneous repair tasks to include painting walls and equipment. Keep records of work performed and related maintenance records. Work with others to complete jobs requiring helpers.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Secondary or Technical certification/degree preferred but not required. Completion of the following courses or equivalent: o High voltage electrical course o Electrical troubleshooting course o Hydraulic Pumps and valves course
Experience Required:
Ability to read and write in order to follow maintenance requests; understand and follow written and verbal instructions when receiving and processing requisitions, maintain simple records of items repaired, as well as other routine equipment history. Approximately 3 three years job related experience necessary in order to learn maintenance procedures and equipment operations. Analytical skills necessary in order to evaluate machine/equipment functions. 40 - 50 of employee s time Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when diagnosing, inspecting and checking accuracy of repairs. 25 of employee s time . Ability to unload, transport and place heavy materials weighing up to forty pounds in appropriate locations in order to repair machinery and equipment. 25 of employee s time . Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical prints and drawings. 25 -50 of employee s time . Ability to differentiate color when repairing electrical services with multicolored wires 30 -50 of employee s time.
Working Conditions: Regular up to fifty percent of work time exposure to oil, grease, and fumes from production equipment and extreme temperatures due to areas where repairs are required. Regularly exposed to hazardous conditions associated with operation and repair of mechanical equipment, but hazards are limited when established safety procedures are followed.
