    Position Description:

    This position is responsible for a major segment of the Human Resources’ departmental activities, but not for the entire functions. Has jurisdiction over several of the following functions: Employment of Nonexempt, exempt and seasonal workers and Safety Programs and training.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned or requested.

    • Manages the daily employment activities including the seasonal workers for both Commerce and Richmond
    • Manages the Leave of Absences including the Family Leaves and COVID-19
    • Manages On-boarding and Exit Interviews in coordination with other HR team members
    • Manages Employee Self-Serve program offered through PayCom
    • Manages monthly and quarterly Safety Training Programs in working with team members
    • Partners with the Vice President of Human Resources and provides support in the investigation of employee relation matters


    • Manages semi-annual DMV audit
    • Manages record-keepings through HR subordinates
    • Manages monthly audit of all Workers Compensation claims

    Time and attendance:

    • Manages weekly Time and Attendance data for all Non-exempt, Warehouse Workers and Temporary employees and reviews the weekly timesheets to ensure they are in compliance
    • Advises supervisors and managers of Company policy as it relates to Time and Attendance
    • Reviews all company non-exempt timesheets for absences, tardiness, start and end time, and ensures meal periods are being taken and proper signatures are obtained

    Compliance Calendar:  Responsible for the Human Resource Department Compliance Calendar:  OSHA Log Report and Posting, Benefits Open Enrollment, New-hires Orientation, EEO reporting,

    Position Requirements:

    • Minimum five 5-8 years’ experience as a professional member in an HR department
    • Proficient (Advanced level) in Microsoft Suite   (Word, Excel, Power Point), etc.
    • Bachelor’s degree  from an accredited college/university
    • Results and quality oriented with the ability to multitask
    • Demonstrates excellent communication skills with all levels of the organization through effective verbal dialogs and written communication
    • Excellent interpersonal skills – flexible, understanding, and discrete in compiling confidential and sensitive information and/or report matters of importance
    • Superb command of written and spoken English.
    • Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail
    • High level of discretion in handling confidential matters
    • Good judgment

    Physical Standards:

    The employee must be able to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, and lift if necessary, up to 25 pounds.  To successfully perform the essential job functions, an employee must meet the physical demands required for this position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential job functions.

    Individual may need to sit or stand as needed.  May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lift as required when filing documents or storing materials through the work day.
