Our client is currently seeking a Director of Business Development who will be a part of the senior management team. The ideal candidate will grow into the role of President over the next 2 years. This is for a smaller organization under $5 million, though it is growing rapidly and is located in Albany, NY. The owner is out of state and plans to be much more hands off in the future. This is a full-time, permanent position with excellent benefits and opportunity to advance within the company.
Maintain the development of strategic relationships with commercial builders
Work collaboratively with the senior management team and peers.
Direct and mange staff.
Provide thought-leadership in the defined sector and region while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of developments in these areas.
Track all pursuit and relationship management information through centralized system or database. Update information on a regular basis to keep database current and accurate.
Execute initiatives identified and ensure detailed account plans are developed, maintained, and enhanced.
Responsible for all requests for proposals and bid opportunities.
Represent the company at relevant industry events and speaking engagements.
Ability to develop and sustain effective relationships at different organizational levels with a wide range of stakeholders.
Client focused having an ability to identify client needs, decision making criteria and how to align these to client's value proposition.
Requires a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Marketing or relevant discipline. MBA Preferred.
Desired 8-10 years in the Construction Engineering or Construction industry.
Extensive knowledge of construction markets and business sectors is a plus.
Must possess excellent communication skills - both verbal and written, with ability to produce highly professional proposals.
A strong sense of urgency, initiative, and attention to detail is a must.
Must have strong technical skills with industry specific programs.
