      Sitting within Medicinal Science & Technology (MST) the Quality & Risk Management (QRM) team partners with the MST Leadership team to create a culture of openness and transparency where staff speak up and leaders take action. MST QRM proactively monitors signals and business performance to drive continuous improvement and improve the quality of our decision making. MST QRM partners with the business to identify and manage inherent and emerging MST enterprise risks which individually, or collectively, influence the achievement of our strategic goals and protect our license to operate.

      As Senior Director, MST Quality & Risk Management you will be responsible for enhancing quality and compliance across our organization. In this highly visible role, you will work with MST Line Leaders to identify and manage the inherent and emerging risks associated with their business and to understand the current level of control within their business activities. Additionally, you will develop and execute a risk management process within specific MST lines. 

      This role will provide you the opportunity to lead key activities to progress your career, these responsibilities include some of the following...

      • To partner with MST Line Leaders to understand and enhance the quality culture so people, at all levels of the organization speak up when concerns, risks or issues occur so leaders can proactively address them through early mitigation. Embed an enterprise learning culture across MST, to ensure the decisions and outcomes are delivered to the best of our highest standards 
      • Integrate GSK and R&D quality and risk management policies and programs into the MST business processes and ways of working. Embed GSK enterprise approach to risk and quality management within MST Lines. Maintain risk management oversight across MST with due recognition of the GSK principal risks
      • Provide leadership in driving MST objective, ensuring that MST's 'requirements, needs and interests' are delivered. Support mitigation of MST Enterprise Risks, which individually, or collectively, influence the achievement of our strategic goals and/or compromises our license to operate 
      • Maintain contemporary knowledge in the evolving regulatory expectations and global environment that impact the business to proactively manage risks and increase the robustness of our business processes and decision making
      • To prioritize and escalate MST enterprise related risks to the MST Leadership Team and develop programs to allow MST to mitigate and close out inherent enterprise risks e.g. data integrity, anti- bribery and anti-corruption, etc. 
      • Work with the Head, MST Quality & Risk Management to ensure alignment of activities across MST, Pharma R&D, PSC and the use of third parties where appropriate. 
      • Monitor MST Quality and Compliance performance, including business partners which impact MST metrics. Assessment of risk, compliance and quality trends and implementation of critical quality improvements with adequate planning, resource and support to ensure long term success.
      • To provide leadership and consistent approach for MST quality and risk management projects; ensuring that the MST requirements, needs and interests are delivered. Working with Global Ethics and Compliance (GEC), EHS&S and Audit & Assurance to support regulatory authority inspections as required.

      Basic Qualifications:

      We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

      • Bachelors' Degree from a scientific, or related discipline
      • A broad scientific/pharmaceutical industry background in pharmaceutical research
      • Knowledge of essential regulatory guidelines, world-wide policies and procedures e.g. detailed knowledge ICH and FDA regulations which impact critical aspects of drug development.
      • Previous experience in quality assurance and risk management areas, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) management, business initiative leadership, trend analysis
      • Detailed knowledge of the drug discovery and development processes.
      • Demonstrated experience managing and engaging with senior stakeholders, peers and teams
      • Experience working and influencing in a cross functional, matrix environment.
      • Proven ability to manage a broad variety of projects and priorities
      • Experienced in problem solving and issue resolution
      • High degree of communication and influencing skills

      Preferred Qualifications:

      If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

      • Master's Degree in a scientific or related discipline
      • Quality Risk Management experience
      • Experience and knowledge of drug discovery and/or supply chain processes
