The results of Snagajob’s 2016 Holiday Hiring survey are in! We spoke with over 1,000 hourly employers and learned that competition to hire workers is hot this year. It’s certainly a job seeker’s market. With unemployment down, there are less available workers. And with online shopping up from last year, employers are looking to fill more positions, especially in transportation and warehousing.

Here’s what our survey found:

  • 90% of employers plan on hiring this year, which is up 10% from last year.
  • Employers plan to offer their workers an average 27 hours a week, which is up 8% from 2014 and 17 percent from 2015.
  • Employers are paying their workers more – the biggest change was in retail, which went up from $9.70 in 2015 and $13.90 in 2016.
  • 86% of employers are likely to hire temporary workers full time after the holidays.

And more.
