Description:

Full time teaching position available.  The salary depends on the number of years of experience and the level of education in the field. This position has a full benefit package.  The teacher is responsible for the supervision and management of a group of children in accordance with state licensing standards, agency and center philosophy and policy, and national accreditation criteria.  The teacher reports to the Assistant Lead, Lead Teacher, Assistant Director and Center Director.

 

Qualifications:

A CDA and a high school diploma experience in the group care of young children, and the ability to visually supervise a group of children are required.  College level courses in early childhood education/child development and other college work in the field are preferred.  If not in place before the beginning of employment, the completion of a minimum of four core courses (as established by the agency) is expected during the first two years of employment and the completion of the CDA by the third anniversary.  The candidate with only a high school diploma will be responsible for attending additional training sessions and completing the four early childhood education courses at the community college (CHD 25, CHD 120, CHD 205, and HLT 135) within 2 years from the initial date of employment.

 

The candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds continuously without limitations and perform necessary cleaning and diapering procedures in accordance with local, state, and national accreditation health and safety standards.  The candidate must possess good written and oral communication skills.  The candidate must also be able to pass a state criminal check, obtain a TB test, and medical examination.

 

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for a group of children.  The candidate must possess excellent supervision skills and be able to coordinate the activities of all the children at one time.  The candidate will be responsible for planning developmentally appropriate lessons for the indoor, as well as outdoor learning environments.  The candidate will also be responsible for talking with parents, being part of a team by assisting other staff members when necessary, and keeping the indoor and outdoor learning environments in good repair, clean and safe.  The candidate must also be responsible for keeping good records and evaluating the children in his/her group.
