The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the design, development and implementation of well-balanced, cost efficient routing strategies for both delivery of product and sales routes. Manages all aspects of finished goods, storage and distribution both on and off-site. Ensures completion of operation’s daily workload in a safe, productive, and efficient manner while focusing on maximizing customer service. The Logistics Manager is responsible for employee coaching and development. This position also has direct reports that includes: Warehouse Supervisors, Customer Service Supervisor, Shipping Clerks, Receiving Clerk, Inventory Clerk and Warehouse Workers.
  • Maintain adequate delivery, warehouse and facility manpower to project a quality image while maintaining costs within established budgets
  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and/or frequency.
  • Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.
  • Plan or implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and training or safety records
  • Responsible for all segments of distribution activities include examining sales orders, scheduling and inventory control to determine quantities and delivery schedules required to sustain distribution requirements
  • Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics
  • Responsible for the direction and coordination of all warehousing activities, i.e., receiving, storage and maintenance of product and inventory control records. Also responsible for managing and coordinating all functions related to warehouse loading/unloading, security and overall day-to-day activities of company facilities
  • Manage performance of all assigned reports by selection, discipline, employee development, performance management and appraisals and making recommendations for promotions
  • Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery
  • Direct distribution center operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in transportation and regulatory compliance
  • Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
  • Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management
  • Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies
  • Conduct or review environmental audits for logistics activities, such as storage, distribution, or transportation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college and five years of distribution experience OR
  • High school diploma or general equivalency and ten years of experience managing a distribution center
  • Experience with Radio Frequency technology and SAP or similar Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Knowledge of analyzing data associated with processes, identifying opportunities, and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge with financial and internal case quantity move and transportation move
  • Working understanding of Occupational Safety Regulations and Department of Transportation
