Overview:

Under general supervision and with minimal assistance from more experienced and knowledgeable analysts, participates in the design and development of new client server architecture to include hardware platforms, client applications, server services, and OSs. Provides 3rd level support for client OS and Server NOS. Independently researches and resolves moderately complex technical problems. Documents standards, implementation procedures, and troubleshooting Manages a time and action calendar and the quality of deliverables. Is an intermediate level technical contributor in one or more specialized phases of system development with increasing business systems knowledge. May serve as primary system support for one or more moderately complex information systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Designs or may lead the design of new client server architecture to include hardware platforms, client applications, server services, OS, network LAN equipment and NOS.
  • Partners with architecture group on client server infrastructure design issues.
  • Acts as lead for new direction of hardware platforms, OS, and NOS. Evaluates, tests and makes recommendations on new/upgrades to hardware, OS, NOS, network LAN and applications and their impact on existing system configurations.
  • Evaluates and recommends new infrastructure services and troubleshooting tools.
  • May act as lead on medium sized to large projects to provide integrated team support and maintenance of hardware and software as needed.
  • Performs cost analysis and feasibility studies on new client server designs. Creates RFPs to bring in new technology.
  • Designs implementation processes for moderately to highly complex projects.
  • Ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced.
  • Prepares documentation for support of new technologies, applications, OS, network LAN and NOS.
  • Supports Field Services as 3rd level support for applications, Window Server 2008 and 2012, Unix and SQL.
  • Provides technical expertise to FOBs in the development of systems solutions.
  • When assuming the project manager role, manages day-to-day project-related activities for highly complex projects. Produces, drives, and manages project schedules, status, resources, deliverables, issues, risk, and timelines throughout the project with input from the team. Builds team consensus and has responsibility for the execution and final delivery of the project. Conducts post-phase evaluations and communicates lessons learned and best practices to management.
  • Prepares documentation on all phases of projects.
  • Manages customer expectations. Keeps the customer aware of the project status and critical issues and risks. Obtains customer sign off at appropriate checkpoints.
  • Responsible for creating and presenting technical white papers to management and peers.
  • Keeps management well informed on a timely basis of progress, status, and concerns for each assignment.
  • Effectively communicates ideas and information to peers, management, and customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains all hardware, administrative tools, and network LAN infrastructure supporting MST main campus.

Skills Summary:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 3- 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have3 to4 years experience with Windows Server 2008 support.
  • Must have experience with Windows Server 2012 support.
  • Must have2 to3 years experience with client server applications in a 2-tier architecture.
  • PowerShell and Scripting experience required.
  • HyperV 2008 and 2012 experience required.
  • Strong experience in Active Directory Management and Maintenance is required.
  • Experience in LAN network systems.
  • Basic knowledge of network trouble-shooting using Sniffers, LAN Meters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN components, network protocols, wiring, and network architecture.
  • Basic knowledge of Unix, SQL, and midrange.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOS commands and batch coding in an Windowsenvironment.
  • Advanced knowledge of client server hardware platforms.
  • Project management experience.
  • Technical writing skills required.
  • Advanced technical, analytical, problem solving, multitasking, and time management skills with consistent attention to detail. Advanced understanding of analytical techniques.
  • Advanced functional understanding of the assigned retail business area (logistics, credit, and so forth) and how it interacts with other areas of the business and detail processes. Overall understanding of the MST suite of systems and their interdependence.
  • Advanced understanding of emerging technologies and systems development best practices.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, organizational, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
