POSITION SUMMARY: Performs Front Desk Check IN/Check Out activities utilizing the practice management software system. Must be able to accurately post charges and payments. The Front Desk Coordinator determines and revises patient and physician scheduling, including referral appointments. This position is able to insure all necessary authorizations are obtained prior to patient visits. The Front Desk Coordinator participates in the posting of charges and payments using the Front Desk Check-In/Check-Out process. This position is also required to cover at any location upon notice. May be asked to perform other duties during the course of assisting the patient i.e. phones, chart prep, posting. Position adheres to MVT Standards of Conduct. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to assigned doctor or Office Coordinator MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: Medical office experience sufficient to perform all duties and aspects of the clinical front office, including computerized scheduling and billing, complex coding, specific and general office duties. 2-3 years experience preferred. Knowledge: Sufficient current knowledge of HMO/PPO insurance programs to correctly assess the need for prior authorization of each visit and understand patient financial information. Sufficient current knowledge of medical billing procedures, including ICD-9, CPT and medical terminology to accurately bill patients various medical insurance carriers. Knowledge of physician contracts with each insurance carrier and ability to provide clean claims at the time of posting. Knowledge of physician office scheduling procedures to create and manage efficient clinical flows Administrative knowledge of surgical and medical procedures and diagnosis. Skills: Excellent Interpersonal, telephone and customer service skills. Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions under pressure. Working relationships most frequently with patients, staff and physicians. May have other contact with insurance carriers, other Medical Vision Technology locations and referring doctors. This position will require immediate attention to request from the billing department and missing ticket reports. Bilingual desired. Accountabilities: Appointment scheduling. Patient reminder calls.
