Katy's Pantry is looking for positive, friendly people with a service-oriented attitude to prepare and serve quality meals & desserts. Experience in the food industry is not required but experience in a customer service oriented business is helpful. Positions available include cashier/customer service, basic food prep, baker's assistant, kitchen assistant, and cook. Part-time and full-time day and evening hours available for Mondays through Saturdays. Scheduling will be based on applicant's availability. Apply in person at 2302 W. Willow Rd. 8-10am and 2-4pm. Job responsibilities: * interact directly with customers, being kind, courteous, and respectable * work efficiently to complete orders correctly and in timely manner * stay focused on customer's needs and meet those needs effectively and efficiently * keep a clean and organized work area * follow the proper recipes and procedures for food preparation of soups, salads, & sandwiches * adhere to high standards regarding food prep, cleaning & sanitation, teamwork & customer service These responsibilities require employees to be on their feet working while clocked in, unless on break. If they are not busy, they are expected to take on tasks they see that need to get done, and pitch in to help their teammates. In addition to following Katy's policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Food Prep * Complete hot and cold food preparation assignment accurately, neatly, and in a timely fashion * Follow recipes accurately and maintaining food preparation processes such as slicing bread; make dressings; heating soup, casseroles, and quiche; dice, cut, and slice vegetables * Prepare food throughout the day as needed, anticipating and reacting to customer volume * Maintain appropriate portion control and consistently monitor food levels on the line * Maintain proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while preparing food Customer Experience * Provide a friendly, quality customer experience to each customer * Keep a clean dining area which includes busing tables, wiping down tables, sweeping, & mopping * Interact with customers to determine their needs and provide for those needs * Complete customer orders thoroughly, using correct register procedures Miscellaneous * Consistently and accurately use cleaning, opening, closing, and inventory checklists * Follow sanitation standards including throughout the day washing cookware and utensils, emptying trash, and sweeping prep area * Clean equipment, as assigned, thoroughly and in a timely fashion according to cleaning guidelines * Demonstrate flexibility in changing job duties when needed * Communicate well with customers, other employees, and management The ideal candidate will: * Have the ability to develop positive working relationships with all restaurant personnel and work as part of a team by helping others as needed or requested * Have the ability to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other employees * Have the ability to maintain a professional appearance at all times and display a positive and enthusiastic approach to all assignments * Be able to exhibit a cheerful and helpful attitude, and provide exceptional customer service * Be able to adapt to changing customer volume levels with a sense of urgency * Have the ability to demonstrate a complete understanding of the menu * Be able to follow instructions for recipes and sanitation guidelines * Have the ability to be cross-trained in all areas of the kitchen and line
