JOB SUMMARY



The Buyer is responsible for creating a relationship of trust and loyalty beyond the immediate interaction. The Buyer is at cost, quality and delivery competitive levels consistent with Company policy and performance standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

While the essential functions outlined below describe a significant portion of this positions assigned responsibilities, other functions and accountabilities may be assigned from time to time. ? Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.

? Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services and or special tools, arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required. Secures and analyzes quotations negotiates prices and terms with suppliers and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competiveness for assigned responsibilities.

? Manage purchase orders to ensure objectives are met regarding on time delivery, inventory, customer emergencies and material availability. Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices and other required documents to assure orderly administration and retention of records.

? Provide communication with Supervisors, Managers, Peers or subordinates, by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person. Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time. Communicate and coordinate with internal departments. Handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. Actively listen to your vendor, customers and peers, to exercise good sound judgment.

? Set up new item numbers; provide pricing and delivery, setup new vendor accounts. Organize work flow to meet customer timeframe utilizing proper time management techniques. Respond promptly to customer and sales inquiries and follow up when necessary.

? Organize, plan and prioritize your workload. Develop specific goals and plans to accomplish your daily activities.

? Participates in the planning, development and execution of special projects.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



? Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures.

? Attentive to detail, deductive reasoning (ability to apply general rules) and inductive reasoning (ability to combine pieces of information) to problems presented and find conclusions and closure. Heavy negotiating, judgment and decision making skills required.

? Familiarity with material handling, inventory availability and radio frequency equipment.

? Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. Able to handle stress and an ever changing work load throughout the year. Becoming adaptable to change, but not complacent within job performance.

? Superior work habits including a willingness to work the hours necessary to complete assigned work and projects, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal pressure. Ability to work independently as well as an integral part of a team and willingly take on new tasks.

? Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.

? Verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. Active listening skills, using logic and critical thinking.

? Superior administrative skills, performing day to day administrative tasks for quick retrieval of customer information and follow up.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A High School Diploma, College Degree and knowledge of customer service principles, practices or direct experience in a similar position.



ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand, walk and climb stairs, speak and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use fingers and hands repetitively. The employee must occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or bend and may lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
