Optum, an industry leader in healthcare implementation and consulting services, is adding additional talent to our CDI Consulting team. Ideal candidates will have prior CDI consulting experience leading large scale projects in the acute care setting and conducting gap analysis. This is a full time position that would allow employees to see career growth while taking on challenging engagements around the United States. This is a home-based position with travel.

 

Description:

· Development and ongoing refinement of CDI assessment and implementation methodology and approach, including: development of deliverable templates, workflows, training manuals/content; integration with technology; other.

 

· Solution development and sales support of CDI through proposal development, responding to RFPs, development and delivery of client presentations

 

 

· Serve as the liaison between CDI consulting services and CDI technology team

 

 

· Engagement management and overall quality assurance

 

 

· Participate in industry events and speaking engagements to promote CDI expertise and capabilities

 

 

·  Assist with recruiting activities for CDI project team

 

 Requirements:

-- Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist/Professional (CCDS/CDIP) credentials through AHIMA or ACDIS  

- Preferred license: RN, NP, PA, MD

- Direct experience in working as a CDI Specialist or in development of CDI program in the acute care setting and understanding of CDI program infrastructure, workflow and reporting/metrics

- Experience leading a large scale project or driving implementation of a CDIP

- Experience in conducting gap analysis, identification of risk and opportunity and development of findings and recommendations, including development of a Road Map; CDIP gap analysis experience preferred but qualified candidates may have comparable experience with other similar initiatives

- Strong understanding of both clinical, HIM, Quality and Case Management workflow

- Individual must be proficient in ICD-9-CM Diagnosis/Procedures Codes, MS-DRG reimbursement and clinical documentation requirements (coder credentials not required).

- Has facilitated physician education or has experience in working directly and communicating with physicians

- ICD-10 experience preferred but not required

 

- BS degree preferred. MS degree strongly preferred

 

- Ability to travel 70-80% required
