Summary: Plans, coordinates and directs all activities within the materials and production departments. Analyze and calculate data to determine, develop, or recommend improvements in the day-do-day operation of the materials and production departments. Schedule, train, and develop subordinate personnel. Responsible for the successful, cost-efficient operation of the materials and production departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate activities between the materials and production departments to ensure profit plan commitments are achieved.
- Continuous product quality improvement.
- Assure 100% on time delivery to customer.
- Stabilize incoming material flow.
- Develop and maintain a safe work environment.
- Implement fail-safe process in the materials and production departments.
- Facilitate cost reduction process.
- Develop and maintain visual management throughout all areas.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence if any nonconformity's relating to product, process, safety and quality systems.
- Control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Maintain union free work environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises the Materials and Production Managers. The Focus Factory Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Materials and Production departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree and five years related manufacturing experience.
- Leadership skills and supervision of large work groups. Related experience, training, education or some combination of all three may be considered.
- Automotive experience in a Just In Time (JIT) environment, Stamping experience, Cost studies, Justification for projects, Sales.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
- Extensive phone and computer usage is required as well as written documentation (formal and informal) ability.
- Must be computer literate and familiar with appropriate software programs.
- Ability to create visual aids for communication purposes.
- PC based software knowledge must include word-processing, spreadsheet and email based systems.
