Job Description:

The Quality Assurance Specialist provides mentorship and expertise in technologies and processes for Information Services (I.S.) Quality Assurance (QA). He/She maintains an awareness of emerging technologies to ensure a competitive advantage.  This position automates test scenarios and expected outcomes. He/She provides expertise for UPS key business functions and supporting technologies. This position applies a comprehensive knowledge of technical skills, principles, practices, and procedures of testing methodologies and working knowledge in planning, designing, and conducting QA reviews and inspections. He/She conducts comprehensive testing and risk-based assessments of the testing objects. This position uses source documentation as input and contributes to the planning and implementation of testing activities.

The Quality Assurance Specialist leads testing components of large and complex projects, assigns tasks, provides direction to resources, and reports progress to project stakeholders. He/She creates and selects tools and methodologies for review and approval by management.

Responsibilities:

Conducts QA Development Processes

  • Develops and creates testware (e.g., deliverables, plans, environment, data set-up, test cases, etc.) to ensure project test requirements are met.
  • Identifies user requirements to ensure business scenarios and processes are incorporated into testing strategies for providing optimal designs.
  • Designs testware and leads test execution efforts to ensure defects are uncovered.
  • Verifies test estimates and collaborates with test lead to ensure requirement testability and to establish adequate resource staffing.

Develops Test Solutions

  • Recognizes automation and tool opportunities to increase efficiency and to improve quality.
  • Manages the design, build, and implementation of test automation plans to increase efficiency and improve quality.
  • Conducts reviews and inspections to ensure accuracy and consistency of work products and test coverage.

Provides Expertise in Testing Across the QA Organization

  • Identifies tasks and methods that can be automated to ensure resources are maximized.
  • Remains current in automation technology and software capabilities to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Provides guidance and leverages expertise across the QA organization to enhance technical expertise and to support technologies.
  • Develops and plans performance testing in collaboration with development teams and appropriate support groups to ensure objectives are met.

Develops and Implements New Practices and Testing Standards

  • Recommends new methods and modifications to ensure test coverage for assigned responsibility.
  • Researches new technologies and processes to recommend investments to management.
  • Develops quality process techniques to be leveraged across the QA organization.
  • Analyzes project results to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates testing processes and methods to ensure consistency and to enhance effectiveness of testing across multiple projects.

Education:
