About this job

Our client, located in the La Jolla area, is seeking a well-qualified Next Generation Sequencing Production Associate to join their team. This position is a full time, benefited (medical, dental, vision, 401K), long-term job opportunity paying $20-30/hr depending on level of experience. This hiring managers can interview candidates to start ASAP.

DUTIES:
- Work within sequencing team to support DNA synthesis pipeline
- Carry out daily sample prep and library construction and work closely with internal and affiliate customers regarding Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) sample processing and data analysis.
- Perform routine maintenance of instruments.
- Keep inventory of equipment and laboratory supplies as directed.
- Closely follow established SOP's.
- Maintain documentation and records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for laboratory safety and housekeeping.

QUALIFCATIONS:
- BA/BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences or related discipline with 2-5 years of experience in an industry or academia.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Exhibits strong initiative and able to switch priorities quickly to respond to laboratory needs.
- Hands on training in the operation of applicable laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain accurate records and notes, and the ability to carry out assignments in a thorough, conscientious fashion.
- Conscious of safety requirements and applicable material handling methods including universal precautions for handling potentially bio-hazardous materials.
- Familiar with computational biology tools (BLAST, Vector NTI) a plus.
- Experience with NGS sample processing and data analysis a plus.
