Time Warner Cable currently seeks a Systems Engineer for its two Regional Sports Networks in Southern California. This Engineering role is a special role with specific knowledge around the Dalet Broadcasting systems. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position



Summary of Role:

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all equipment associated with IT Operations, including some related broadcasting systems. This position provides technical support during productions and live events related to the network and it ' s a 24/7 support role.



Emphasis: IT Operations

The position will primarily be responsible for
maintaining all hardware and software systems related to the day to day operation of the network under the direction of the IT Manager. This includes, but is not limited to Windows, Linux, VMware, Citrix, Dalet and related storage systems. This role ensures that these systems are optimally functioning, maintained, kept up to date and secured in a 24/7 enterprise environment. The engineer must interface closely with systems users and team to identify and correct problems.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain Active Directory and all related Windows server systems

- Maintain VMware and all related systems including Virtual Center

- Maintain 3PAR and Netapp storage systems

- Maintain Citrix and all published applications in our environment

- Secure all servers and maintain them up to date with their security patches

- Manage VEEAM backups of all systems and their recovery process

- Maintain SQL databases and their respective backups

- Maintain monitoring systems and respond to alerts

- Maintain all server hardware and respective updates

- Maintain monitoring system and modify system alerts

- Manage application software updates

- Manage Anti-virus server and keep environment safe of malware

- Run auditing process

- Follow ITIL 3.0 fundamentals

- Manage escalations from team members and Broadcasting team

- Create flowcharts, Visio diagrams, and other documentation

- Follow change control process

- Support 27/7 Network



Requirements:

-

5 to 7 years expertise with Windows Active Directory. Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 Server Preferred.

- 5 years plus experience with storage technologies like 3PAR and Netapp.

- 5 years plus with VMware infrastructure

- 3 to 5 years ' experience working with Citrix environments

- 5 to 7 years ' experience working with HP ProLiant server line

- 3 to 5 years ' experience of Symantec Enterprise Protection server.

- Knowledge and configuration on HPSIM server

- Knowledge and configuration of HP iLO

- Knowledge on Fiber and iSCSI storage connectivity

- Experience with VEEAM backups and recovery methods

- Experience installing and imaging servers

- Knowledge running auditing process for a mid-size corporation following SOX compliance

- Knowledge of broadcasting systems like Dalet is a plus.

- 3 to 5 years ' experience with Solarwinds or equivalent monitoring software

- Knowledge configuring and managing Microsoft Windows and SQL Clusters

- Experience installing and managing SQL 2008 R2 databases.

- PowerShell scripting a plus

- Ability to communicate, both written and verbal.

- Ability to work well with others, as well as independently. Attention to detail.

- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a mid-size business environment


Formal Education & Certification

-

Computer Science Degree or similar discipline and/or five (7) years equivalent work experience.

- Microsoft, VMware and Citrix certifications are pluses.

- Netapp or 3PAR training training a plus.

Travel Requirements:

Travel depending upon project needs.

Leadership/Staff Accountability:

- Hands-on role that may also lead, assign, train, schedule and oversee the work of other staff members.

- Communicate Technologies to both Broadcasting and IT teams.

Work Conditions

- Provide on-call support 24 hours per day, 365 per year. Support may entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other disasters. This includes, but is not limited to UPS/LIPA failures, storms or severe weather, and loss of personnel.
