Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
Clamp, hold, tack-weld, grind, or bolt component parts per fitters instructions to obtain required configurations and positions for welding, sometimes on positioners.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes listed below as well as change gas bottles for welding equipment.
Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade. Operate a small fork lift.
Operate a scissor lift.
Operate overhead crane.
Work with coworkers and other departments effectively to meet deadlines.
Lift and rotate heavy equipment up to 20 lbs and lift heavy metal pieces up to 60 lbs. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications/Licensing:
Perform SMAW (Shielded metal arc welding aka stick welding) in 3G vertical up position and back gouge per ASME code regulations that will pass 100% x-ray.
Perform FCAW (Flux core arc welding), GMAW (Gas metal arc welding), and GTAW (Gas tungsten arc welding) per ASME code regulations that will pass 100% x-ray.
Proficient in air arc.
