General Summary

The Distribution Center General Manager will ultimately be in charge of managing Gordmans Omaha retail distribution center. This will include:

1. Responsibility for all DC operational activities at the Omaha DC.
2. Motivate and lead DC personnel.
3. Manage all shipments (both inbound and outbound).
4. Coordinate distribution activities with the merchandising team (Planning &
Allocations).


Responsibilities



1. Accomplishes DC talent objectives by recruiting, selecting, orientating, training, developing, coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
2. Achieves DC operations operational objectives by contributing DC operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
3. Meets DC operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
4. Develops DC operations systems by determining product handling requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
5. Develops DC operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
6. Effectively and collaboratively works with critical business partners at other distribution facilities, in the Corporate Office and in the Stores.
7. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
8. Secures property by developing protection and access policies and procedures; coordinating patrols with loss prevention.
9. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
10. Ensure site operates efficiently and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
11. Ensure company policies are communicated, administered and enforced (i.e. accounting, operational, regulatory and administrative).
12. Take an active leadership role in managing turnover to the appropriate level (among hourly and management staff).
13. Ensure the associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely accounted for and adequately maintained.
14. Must be at work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled.
15. Follow company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

Education and Qualifications

15. Demonstrated understanding of managing product flow including; receipt of products, movement within the flow through operations, functional operations (i.e. put to light, value added services (VAS), Garment on Hanger (GOH), high-value operations and seasonal peaks).
16. Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse management systems.
17. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, supply chain software (inventory/warehouse management and distribution software) and planning & allocations software.
18. Experience with WMS systems / Equipment / Safety programs (High Jump WMS preferred).
19. Bachelor degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
20. 5 years of experience in a large (400k sq. ft. or more) high volume DC facility strongly preferred.
21. Retail distribution experience required.
22. 3+ years of supervisory experience required.
23. Experience with a company with multiple distribution facilities preferred.
24. Experience with opening a new DC strongly preferred.
