The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks an Associate Engineer, Optical/Transport for our Technology and Network Operations Division. Essential Job Functions:

1. Executes documented actions in a technical area, including integration, configuration and validation. Documents procedures for review and approval by management or higher level technical employees.

2. Solve technical problems escalated by lower level technical employees by identifying and executing documented processes and procedures or applying technical expertise to undocumented situations.

3. Responsible for configuration and support of system components based on specific established requirements.

4. Escalate complex or undocumented issues to higher level technical resources (Engineers).

5. Collaborate with cross functional teams to resolve internal and external customer issues and may communicate status related to such collaboration. Makes recommendations on solutions and / or technical direction. Work with other engineers to complete project deadlines and technical projects.

Specific Job Requirements:

- Provides service monitoring, assurance and reliability for transport network

- Focus on maintaining internal OLA requirements

- Clear understanding of Transport network elements

- 0-2 years Experience with Juniper, Alcatel, Cisco, Nortel, Fujitsu and Infinera Optical transport equipment

- Functional understanding of CWDM and DWDM optical networks and ,Ethernet, MPLS, and IP routing

- Experienced in fault isolation and troubleshooting

- Experienced with break/fix responsibilities on optical networks

- Functionally literate or capable of becoming literate in Granite

- Knowledge of Maintenance, Service, and Installation practices

- Effective communication skills with previous event management experience

- Ability to effective identify best practices and document accordingly

Preferred Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP, JNCIA JNCIE or JNCIS

Preferred experience with: Site Manager, and other EMS ' .

- Works with 3rd party provider for trouble resolution

- Performs routine fix actions such as port shut /no shut, and recording light levels

Thorough understanding/expert knowledge with the same Systems/Tools/ Devices listed for the Sr. Technician position.

- Subject Matter Expert (SME)for all CI monitoring tools, Video monitoring tools, AND/OR Network monitoring tools.

- Troubleshooting knowledge of IP operations for Cable MSO including DOCSIS, CMTS and Cable Modems.

- Basic knowledge of UNIX, Linux, or FreeBSD server/services support.

- Basic understanding of Voice Over IP (VOIP) protocols and architecture.

- Understanding of network related services (DHCP, DNS, TFTP, FTP, NTP, SSH, SMTP, POP3, and SNMP)

- Thorough understanding of Ethernet, SONET, and DWDM.

- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, Multicast, and routing protocols (ISIS, MPLS)

Preferred Qualifications:

Vendor certification for related equipment (JNCIA, CCNA) or related work experience.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor ' s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

No Supervisory responsibilities with this position.
