We have an immediate opening for a Banquet Captain.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

  • Be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

GENERAL PURPOSE

  • Supervise, train and ensure the performance of assigned Banquet Staff, so that all procedures are completed to the hotel's standards.
  • Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Oversee and assist with set up of designated function rooms to group’s requirements in accordance with Hotel standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment, guest areas.
  • To include all banquet meeting rooms any Hotel location designated for a group function or event, service areas.
  • To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests/ visitors, hotel management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to count.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have some Banquet experience in a medium to small size hotel or resort.
  • Previous experience in similar position in hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of various room set-ups and standard equipment involved.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques.
  • Ability to communicate in a second language

JOB ESSENTIALS:

  • Ability to understand guests' service needs and set up requirements. Be thoroughly familiar with the location of all function rooms and related areas and the various types of workable setups, including: School-room style, Theater style, Conference Style, U-Shape and Hollow square.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through.
  • Ability to follow and give directions.
  • Ability to focus attention on details.
  • Ability to adhere to timelines in completion of set-ups.
  • Ability to adapt to priority changes of workflow or requirements.
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate and remain extremely alert while operating designated equipment, machinery and tools.
  • Ability to exert physical effort in transporting and placement of tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, podiums and other meeting/ banquet room equipment.
  • Ability to endure physical movements in performing job functions.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of various food service styles (i.e. French service, Russian service, tableside flambé service, butler style service).
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls.
  • Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools for Banquets
