Garden Center Employee - Full-time / Part-time

Reports directly to the Garden Center Manager. Responsible for following directives to the best of his/her ability to assure courteous customer relations and proper maintenance of Garden Center inventory

PRIMARY JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following .
Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists in proper maintenance and display of merchandise under the direction of the Garden Center Manager.
• Maintains good customer service by answering customer questions and loading customers' vehicles with purchases as needed.
• Unloads trucks of incoming merchandise and displays it as directed by hislher supervisor.
• Responsible for the lifting and movement of flowers, shrubs, trees, potting soil, fertilizer, etc.
• Responsible for the and movement of clay products, concrete products, and lawn furniture.
• Responsible for the lifting and movement of bagged mulch, potting soil, topsoil, fertilizer, humus etc.
• May be required to be trained in operating a bobcat and/or forklift.
• If knowledgeable answers customer questions or refers them to his/her supervisor.
• Loads customer's purchases in vehicles as needed.
• Waters plants as directed.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Works in a safe manner at all times (i. e. seeks assistance when lifting or moving heavy items).
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than a high school education. Experience not necessary but must be capable of being trained.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems.
