Spartan Staffing is currently hiring an experienced Lead Carpenter in Waterloo New York. Outstanding opportunity – temp-to-hire position!

Job Description: Selected individual will be responsible for planning work for and overseeing a crew of 3 less experienced carpenter helpers.

Pay Rate: $13.00-$18.00/hour based on experience

Shift/Hours: Mon – Fri – occasional Saturday – 8:00am to 4:30pm

Job Requirements:

• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
• Install structures or fixtures, such as docks and boat houses using carpenters' hand or power tools.
• Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
• Build or repair docks and boat houses or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.
• Assemble and fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
• Formal construction trade training preferred
• Must be able to twist, bend, climb and lift up to 60 pounds
• 5 years construction experience at least 1 year in a supervisory role
• Welding experience a plus!
