Join the Optum Advanced Analytics Lab Performance Monitoring team as a Healthcare Analytics Consultant! This requisition is in support of
Performance Monitoring for our Coordination of Benefits area. The Performance Monitoring team was created to develop, standardize and implement
the methodologies required to evaluate and improve the performance of Payment Integrity analytics. The team's focus is the development of
analytic metrics that reflect hit rate, false positive ratios, and incident bad rates by the analysis of results and the identification of
opportunities to increase client savings and improve operational efficiency.
 
Coordination of Benefits (COB) Analytics:
Primary focus area is on Medicare primary payer investigations. Includes investigation of trends in healthcare data related to member demographics,
types of visits, lengths of stay, place of origin vs. place of service, or diagnosis to detect COB opportunity within the post pay data sets.
COB clients have recovery opportunity from retrospective claims retraction and prospective savings opportunity by avoiding future claim payment errors.
Claim and member data can be sourced from UHG and external clients.


Primary job responsibilities:
• Research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analysis of data
• Provide management with statistical findings and conclusions.
• Identify areas for performance improvement and alternative strategies
• Gather and prepare analysis based on information from internal and external sources to evaluate and demonstrate program effectiveness and efficiency
• Develop scalable reporting processes and querying data sources to conduct ad hoc analyses
• Research complex functional issues using a variety of resources
• Develop and prepare highly complex reports and provide and/or interpret information and data across divisions and departments

Requirements

Required:
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• Recent experience in a position focusing on data reporting and analysis
• 3 + years of healthcare industry experience to include healthcare claims and member data knowledge
• Experience with healthcare performance measurements
• Coordination of Benefits (COB) – Medicare experience


 


Preferred:
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
• Proficiency with MS Visio
• SAS, Base SAS, SAS EG
• Experience with data warehouses and/or data marts
