Job Summary: The ASPCA Kitten Nursery provides 24-hour, seasonal (April-October) care for at risk cats from 0 to 8 weeks of age. The Temporary Nursery Caregiver (NCG) will provide critical care and maintenance for cats and nursing litters, in addition to kittens and neonates without mothers, being housed in the ASPCA Nursery. Primary responsibilities include routine bottle feeding, monitoring the health of nursery animals, as well as, general care and maintenance of the wards and nursery areas. Additionally, the NCG will provide enrichment and socialization for nursery kittens with an emphasis on age groups less than eight weeks of age.

Job Responsibilities: * Provide attentive nursing care for all kittens and neonates in the ASPCA Nursery which includes routine bottle feeding, stimulating elimination and daily cleaning of animal enclosures * Provide attentive care for nursing cats and their litters, ensuring appropriate feeding, monitoring and cleaning at all times, in accordance with ASPCA protocols * Closely monitor health status of kittens and report observations to the Medical team * Collaborate with Medical and NCG team members to ensure continuity of care * Ensure that unoccupied nursery areas are sanitized according to ASPCA cleaning and disease management protocols * Handle and nurture kittens appropriately, consistent with established ASPCA protocols * Provide guidance to ASPCA Volunteers while on duty * Provide exercise and socialization to kittens according to age and needs of the animal * Attend mandatory staff meetings and training classes * Perform related duties as assigned Education: * High School Diploma required

Experience: * Must have one year minimal experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter, veterinarian hospital or equivalent Knowledge Requirements: * Advanced training and/or instruction in care of neonate, infant or orphaned kittens preferred

Skills Requirements: * Must be detail oriented with a nurturing ability to care for vulnerable animal population * Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing * Ability to restrain or handle animals Additional Information: * Ability to work independently as well as be a team player * Ability to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day
