Job Description:

The Sr. Software Distribution Technician will be part of the Package Engineering / Deployment Management (PET/DMT) team. The candidate will perform packaging functions, installation testing, analyze error logs, create and modify distribution scripts and provide validation prior to implementation. Duties include:

  • Building & rebuilding test & production servers/workstations and maintaining environments
  • Installations in various test environments, shakeout testing, validation of installations, and production deployment of applications.

Analytical and troubleshooting skills are required. Some programming background is preferred.

The Sr. Software Distribution Technician applies advanced skills in area of specialization. May adapt procedures, techniques, tools, material and/or equipment to meet special needs. A good knowledge of network and hardware equipment is necessary. While primarily a packaging and testing position, this person may be required to provide assistance during deployments. He/she monitors problems and reports on application installations and escalates to resolve problems. May manage and report on HDFS cases. Experience includes XML, Windows Scripting, HW environments, Windows.

This position requires 2-4 years of experience with scripting, testing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting applications in multi-tier environments. The successful candidate must have a firm understanding of the system development lifecycle (ALM), support practices, testing methodologies as well as excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. He/she must have very good technical, planning, organizational, decision making, problem solving, documentation, and information gathering skills. He/she must also be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Works under moderate supervision and works with an array of internal customers and application owners.

The Sr. Software Distribution Technician receives direction from the Senior or Lead Production Support Team members, Manager or Senior Manager. Requires light supervision for low to moderate complex projects.
