Job Summary  

The Application & Web Developer-Tax Systems maintains third-party tax software and develops technology based processes to enhance efficiency. He/She provides system and hardware support to federal, state, city, and county tax groups. This position works with all areas of the tax function to assist with tax compliance processes, audit activities and special projects.

The Application & Web Developer-Tax Systems meets with customers (e.g., tax groups, etc.) to gain an understanding of their process and application needs, as well as evaluates existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and associated action plans (e.g., application acquisitions, etc.). This position validates datasets to ensure requests are fulfilled and delivered in the appropriate format (e.g., Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, databases, etc.), and participates in stakeholder meetings to create process efficiencies within internal tax groups.

Other Duties  

  • Builds applications to streamline processes for meeting tax regulatory changes.
  • Conducts beta testing to ensure applications deliver expected results.
  • Meets with customers (e.g., internal tax groups, etc.) to collect data requests and understand data usage.
  • Analyzes raw data sources (e.g., Info Library, Data Mart, etc.) to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
  • Builds automated processes to expedite data requests and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.

 Preferred Competencies  

  • Technology Knowledge: Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups; recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Demonstrates basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles.
  • Establishes Metrics and Performance Tools: Identifies basic measurement requirements and possible indicators for individual, group, department, and business unit results; demonstrates a general ability to use multiple measurement methods for measuring performance; sets meaningful goals and objectives.
  • Finance Knowledge: Accurately reads and interprets financial reports and statements; demonstrates an understanding of relevant financial measures, revenue and cost drivers; applies financial analysis to recommend solutions that support business objectives.
  • Report Generation: Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies some problems with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)
  • Technology Implementation: Modifies or adjusts logistics, schedule, rollout plans, or support material; identifies and communicates routine implementation issues and plans; uses existing plans to implement technology solutions.

Minimum Qualifiers 

  • Experience with web development (e.g. HTML, ColdFusion, JavaScript, etc.)-Preferred
  • Experience with database programming (e.g. SQL, etc.)-Preferred
